We are constantly looking for quick family meals that are also full of flavour and nutritious, with plenty of vegetables.
We are big fans of fajitas and Mexican food in general, so we were delighted to receive a selection of Old El Paso products to try, including meal kits, rice meals, casserole recipe mix and sauces.
We received two sauces, Zesty Red Jalapeno Relish and Sweet Corn Relish. They are great to be added to fajitas and tacos, I prefer the mild flavour of the sweet corn relish, while hubby prefers the heat of red jalapeno relish.
Old El Paso Roasted Tomato and Pepper Fajitas is already one of our favourites fajitas kit, it comes with 8 soft salsa tortillas, spicy mix for toasted tomato and pepper fajitas and spicy tomato and pepper salsa.
We eat it all the time, we enjoy the tender strips of chicken, crunchy peppers and onions topped with the fiery Old El Paso spicy tomato and pepper salsa, all wrapped in the delicious tortillas.
We’ve never tried tacos before, Old El Paso Original Beef Tacos kit contains 12 crunchy taco shells, spicy mix for tacos and taco salsa. It was very quick and easy making our tacos with minced beef, then serving it with lettuce, tomatoes and grated cheese.
The whole family enjoyed it, it was different to what we would normally have, but very tasty. It took no more than 20 minutes to prepare the dish, and you can add as much salad to each taco as you wish.
Old El Paso has recently launched One Pan Rice Meal for chicken, you can choose from a family-friendly Extra Mild flavour and Chilli & Garlic if you prefer a touch of spice.
One Pan Rice Meal, as the name suggests are quick and easy all-in-one meal, with little washing up to do afterwards. The Extra Mild, Super Tasty One Pan Rice Meal kit contains 200g seasoned rice, creamy lime sauce and seasoning mix.
You simply need to stir fry chicken pieces with vegetables chunks and a tin of sweetcorn, then add the creamy lime sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, until the rice is cooked.
Not only we liked the vibrant colours of the dish, we also liked the combination of flavours. If you prefer, you can add more vegetables, the recipe suggests a green pepper, we added an extra red pepper and small onion. You can also make a vegetarian version of the dish by swapping the chicken for pulses and beans.
We will be trying the casserole recipe mix soon, Fiery Jalapeno & Tomato and Warming Paprika & Herbs, both to be used with chicken, to transform meats and vegetables into a succulent one pot of casserole with the richest Mexican favour. It sounds very good and based on the other products that we tried, I’m sure we will love the casserole recipe mix too!
