Ideas to Live Your Lunch Break in Central London
I should start this post with a confession: I always try to do too many things, sometimes more than I can handle. When someone asks for help, I usually say ‘no problem’, instead of ‘I am sorry, I am too busy’.
Being helpful is great, but not when it interferes with your life-work balance. I’ve lost count how many lunches I ate at my desk, how many evenings and weekends I’ve worked from home, but there is a limit to everything. I understand it is important to have a healthy life-work balance, to enjoy both and be happy, however it is easier said than done.
Following survey findings that over a third of workers in the UK often feel they should work through their lunch, I was challenged by Flexioffices, one of the UK’s leading providers of serviced office space for businesses in London and around the UK, to take back the lunch break.
I have been working around King’s Cross for over 7 years, so I thought I would share my best places to spend my lunch break in the area:
Relax:
My favourite place to relax is Regent’s Park, it is peaceful and I always get back to work refreshed after visiting Regent’s Park. It is lovely in the summer to sunbathe and top up your tan during your lunch break. If you prefer the shade, there are plenty of trees around, you can even take a stroll along the lake and feed some ducks on your lunch break.
Exercise:
When I am having a busy day, I try to fit in an exercise class in my lunch break. Exercising helps to clear my mind and keep focused for the rest of the day. My favourite exercise class is Zumba, it is basically dancing to Latin tunes, so you can’t go wrong with that!
Coffee:
When I don’t have the chance to get out of the office on my lunch break, I make sure I take some time off in the afternoon to enjoy a nice cappuccino in a nearby coffee shop. I like trying new coffee shops, so I don’t have a favourite. As long as they have coffee and cakes, I am happy to pay them a visit for an hour or so.
This post was written in collaboration with Flexioffices, however the opinions are honest and my own.
