Joys of Swimming
I should start by saying that I always loved swimming! My mum enrolled me and my brother in swimming lessons when we were young and, ever since, I love being in the water, playing with my friends and swimming. I’ve entered a few swimming competitions as a child, but I’ve only won bronze, my brother used to swim very fast and get loads of gold medals.
I’m from Brazil, a tropical country, so there is nothing better than jumping in the pool to cool down in a hot day. Unfortunately we didn’t leave close to the coast in Brazil, so we only went to the seaside on summer holidays. However my parents took us swimming every opportunity, at least once a week.
Since I moved to London, nearly 10 years ago, I have only been swimming a few times. I don’t think it helps the fact that it’s either cold or raining in England! No, I’m not complaining, but I’m from a hot climate, around 30-35C during the Summer and 20-25C in the Winter, and I’m still not used to the English weather!
My little boy’s first swimming experience was in our holiday in Cyprus when he was only 5 months old. He loved being in the water and it brough back memories of when I was a child and my mum used to take me swimming. You can see my little baby chilling in the baby float. It was our first holiday as a family and we all had a great time!
The following year, we were lucky to be able to take our little boy to Brazil so he could experience the hot weather and meet my grandmother, uncles and cousins. As he was a bit older, he was able to swim on his own and he loved splashing in the water!
He was swimming in his car boat and having a blast. We struggled to take little man out of the pool when it was starting to get dark. If we let him, he would have stayed in the water during our whole holiday!
As summer is approaching, I will be taking my little boy swimming more often. I got a new swimsuit for myself and trunks for little man. Swimming is a great exercise, low impact and perfect to exercise all muscles. I felt very relaxed when we went swimming a few weeks ago, little man thoroughly enjoyed it, so we are definitely coming back soon!
Swimming is great and the joys of swimming are countless! 🙂
