Joe Browns School Run Style Challenge #JoeBrownsSRS
As I was reading the post for Joe Brown’s School Run Style Challenge, I had to agree to each sentence and accept the fact that I’m not as stylish as I used to be. There is no point in denying myself, so it is time to be honest and admit that I’m no longer fashionable as I was before little man came along.
“Are you fed up and tired of your wardrobe?”
Yes! I must admit that I don’t bother choosing my outfit the night before as I used to. As I result, I end up wearing the same clothes over and over again. There is not much variation in my wardrobe. I usually wear jeans a top and comfortable shoes.
“Maybe you can’t remember the last time you bought anything new for yourself”
Yes! Have you tried going clothes shopping with a child? I did in January when my family was over from Brazil. They wanted to make the most of the sales, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to bag myself a few outfits and revamp my wardrobe. Unfortunately that’s not what happened; I ended up leaving the store five times to take little man for toilet trips and didn’t get the chance to look at anything.
Little man got a new jacket from his grandmother, but I didn’t get the time to browse and choose anything between toilet trips, snacks and entertaining little man. He is a good boy, bless him, however he was quite bored at the shop, so I had to take him for a walk while my mum and my cousins were still shopping. They got home full of bags with lots of clothes, I was happy for them, however I was slightly jealous that I didn’t buy anything!
“You’ve swapped stylish for comfortable”
Yes! Since my bump started getting big, I had to swap my skinny jeans for leggings, then full on maternity clothes. Somehow I did not get back to my stylish pre-pregnancy clothes. I usually consider how practical and comfortable the outfit is before anything else.
“Those pretty high heeled shoes are forgotten somewhere in the back of the wardrobe, and your feet are tucked into those comfy trainers that you bought sometime pre-pregnancy”
Yes! How do you know? I’m all for flat shoes and comfortable shoes. Before trainers were worn while exercising, however they seem to be part of my daily outfit.
Right, now that I have admitted that I am not the yummy mummy I would love to be, it is time to choose a School Run Outfit from the lovely selection of clothes at Joe Browns website. As I always wear jeans and trousers, I am not even looking at trousers this time. I would like to wear more dresses and skirts like my mother, she always looks stylish. Besides, I would like to wear more colourful clothes instead of the usual plain dark coloured outfits that I usually wear.
As soon as I opened the dress page, I spotted this gorgeous dress and guess what’s its name? South American Dress (RRP £39.95)! As I am Brazilian, it seems meant to be. I would look very stylish on the school run with this dazzling flame of a dress. It is made with light, floaty georgette fabric with plenty of beading detail. Absolutely gorgeous!
There is usually a breeze in the morning, so I need a Summer Day Scarf (RRP £9.95) with lots of bright colour and tassels. It is perfect to throw over my shoulders on the school run.
Dress and scarf sorted. I need gorgeous accessories to go with it. Funky Flower Necklace (RRP £9.95) is funky, quirky and refreshingly unconventional, it has a stunning silvery flower against the red pendant. Classy and chic!
A Fabric & Charms Bracelet (RRP £2.95) would compliment my outfit nicely.
Unfortunately I no longer live in Brazil, so I need a Must Have Cropped Denin Jacket (RRP £22.95) to bob on over my gorgeous South American Dress and give me a cool look.
Every mummy needs a big bag to hold all the essentials: phone, purse and make-up for myself and toys and snacks for little man. The Essential Denin Bag (RRP £21.95) is a relaxed, 60s retro bag with a lot of room for all the daily essentials. The mock padlock fastening is a lovely touch.
A lovely outfit needs a gorgeous Midnight Blue Aviators (RRP £14.95). Classic aviator styling with lenses in cool midnight blue will go nicely with the denin jacket and denin bag.
As I have been wearing flat shoes and trainers for some time, I need a practical pair of heeled shoes. Wedge Shoe (RRP £14.95) is perfect with big, bold buckles and broad tan straps to make an statement. It is a comfortable yet stylish shoe.
Joe Browns teamed up with Best British Bloggers for a brand new competition giving bloggers who are mums the opportunity to win £250 worth of Joe Browns gift vouchers. I would love to win to revamp my wardrobe and look lovely on the school run!
While I was browsing Joe Browns website, I noticed the incredible Summer Sale Season – up to 60% off at the moment! You can buy lovely outfits without breaking the bank!
