October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month – TLC
Cancer is a very delicate and sad subject, however we can’t avoid talking about it. Instead of ignoring this important subject, we should try and diagnose it at early stages and fight it.
Our family had a very sad experience with Breast Cancer, so it is a subject very close to us. Sadly my husband’s mother passed away after a few years of fighting breast cancer.
In order to raise awareness and possibly save lives, I would like to share this information about Breast Cancer: Shocking new research from Breakthrough Breast Cancer has revealed that 98% of women cannot name five warning signs of breast cancer.
In response Breakthrough Breast Cancer has launched a new, handy breast awareness guide to make sure women have a reminder of the signs and symptoms, wherever they are.
“What TLC means to me”
Tender Loving Care for yourself and your family includes not only looking after yourself, but also checking your breasts regularly. Of course a healthy lifestyle is important, but you shouldn’t forget to check your breast.
Supported by Dr Hilary Jones and Bernie Nolan, amongst other celebrities, the TLC guide contains the charity’s award winning Touch Look Check (TLC) breast awareness message. It advises women to touch their breasts, look for any changes and if they spot anything unusual, check it out with their GP.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer Ambassador Bernie Nolan said: “People assume finding a lump is the only way to spot breast cancer but that’s not the case. I noticed my breasts had changed shape and immediately went to see my doctor. I cannot stress enough how important it is to get to know your breasts and remember to check for unusual changes. That’s why I would urge people to text TLC to 84424* to get their free credit card sized TLC (Touch Look Check) guide from Breakthrough Breast Cancer and use it as a reminder to check their breasts. It really could save your life.”
“Finding breast cancer early could save your life. Know the signs, text TLC to 84424* for your free handy TLC guide from Breakthrough Breast Cancer, or register at www.tlcguide.org.
*Standard networks apply”
So what are you waiting for? I urge you to check yourself and pass on this information to all the ladies that you know.
