Medjool Dates: Guilt-Free Sweet Treat
Now that Christmas is over and the New Year is here, it is time to put those chocolate boxes away and enjoy healthier treats as part of a more balanced diet. I must admit that I love sweets and anything sugary, yummy!
However I have had one too many chocolates, croissants and brioches during our holiday in France over Christmas and New Year – let me forget to include all the French cheese and wine!
The good news is that you can have guilt-free sweet treats such as dates as part of a healthy diet as they are rich in natural sweetness and virtually fat free. I was sent a box of Medjool Dates to review and they taste great!
Medjool dates are large and plump, with a soft and succulent flesh. Besides, they are packed full of goodness, which makes them the everyday healthy snack.
Dates are naturally sweet and rich in potassium, fibre, vitamins and minerals. So you can have a sugar fix without affecting your New Year’s Resolution of healthy eating!
Furthermore, Medjool dates are deliciously chewy and fleshy variety, bursting with sweet honey, caramel and cinnamon flavours. They are perfect for curbing sugar cravings, I particularly crave sweets mid-afternoon, instead of having biscuits with my cup of tea, I have been enjoying Medjool dates. You can have dates with coffee, cereal, after dinner and even cook even them!
As dates are fruits, they count towards your five a day and they have a high fibre content, which helps you feel fuller for longer, regulate your digestive system, keep your appetite in check and satisfy rumbling tummies between meals.
Overall, I really enjoyed Medjool dates, they are healthy and full of flavour! I had dates before, but it was the first time trying Medjool dates and I love it. They come in a beautiful box and luxurious packaging, they taste lovely and are healthy – what more could I ask for?!
