Date Night at Chiquito Restaurant: Sizzling New Menu
When I was contacted to have a date night at Chiquito Restaurant and review their new sizzling menu, I agreed straight away.
We always pass by Chiquito in Leicester Square and there is always a queue waiting to be seated, which is a good sign, it means that Chiquito is quite popular.
As a couple, we don’t get much time out by ourselves as little man goes to bed early and we are usually home in the evenings.
So whenever we get the chance, we make the most of a couple of hours on our own.
Chiquito’s philosophy is “our dishes are made with the tastiest of ingredients, packed full of flavour to really tantalise your taste buds.
Whether you are looking for a tasty treat or a light bite, our menu features sizzling specials, hot fajitas and Mexican favourites for the more adventurous.”
Once we arrived at Chiquito, we were offered a complimentary bowl of seasoned popcorn, it was very tasty and lovely start of our meal.
As it was a night out, I had to order one of Chiquito’s lovely cocktails: I went for Mojito and it was very refreshing!
Hubby ordered a Tex Mex dish: Southern Fried Chicken & BBQ Pulled Pork (RRP £13.95) which is Chiquito’s number one favourite. Southern fried chicken breast topped with BBQ pulled pork and melted cheesed.
The dish was served with skin-on-fries, corn on the cob, onion rings, coleslaw and BBQ sauce.
Hubby was very impressed with his meal, it was nice and well seasoned. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy with succulent pork.
It went really well with the crispy spicy onion rings and the other ingredients on the plate.
I am a big fan of fajitas, so I ordered Fiery Chilli Chicken Fajita (RRP £13.95).
Chiquito offers a large selection of fajitas, so you can choose from grilled steak, to tiger prawns and blackened salmon.
I went for grilled chicken breast marinated in habaneros and lime sauce, which was spicy but not overpowering. The chicken was cooked to perfect and very tasty.
The Fiery Chilli Chicken was served over a bed of spiced fajita onions and mixed peppers on a hot plate, which kept the dish hot throughout the evening.
The dish comes with four warm, soft flour tortillas, they were wrapped to stay fresh.
There was also a selection of fajita toppings: grated cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole.
I really enjoyed my fajitas and making each tortilla.
After our main course, we shared a Dessert Platter (RRP £7.95) which comes with a lovely selection of favourite desserts.
There were Churros, which are deliciously soft dough, fried until crispy and golden.
They are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and served with a pot of chocolate flavour sauce for dipping.
Churros are freshly baked and served warm, they were incredibly tasty and reminded me of Brazil.
Churros are largely available in Brazil, you can buy them on the streets from mobile vans.
There was also Chocolate Brownie which is a moist chocolate brownie served warm with vanilla ice cream.
The chocolate brownie was very tasty and the ice cream complimented the dish.
The dessert platter was beautifully decorated with strawberries and chocolate sauce. The selection was desserts went very well together and the dish was perfect for two to share.
The dessert platter was a perfect end to our date night, we left Chiquito commenting how lovely our meal was.
Although we had to wait for our table, we could stay at the bar enjoying a relaxing drink.
The staff was very nice and friendly, they made us feel welcome and relaxed throughout the evening. Our meal was very tasty and the portions were quite generous!
While we were there, I’ve noticed that Chiquito offers a lunch menu on weekdays from only £5.95 for main means and you can add a starter or dessert for £2.50.
I have also noticed that mums eat free on Mother’s Day when you purchase another main meal, so I know what I will be having on Mother’s Day – fajitas at Chiquito!
