Peckforton Castle: Enchanting Hotel in the Heart of Cheshire
Over half term, we had the pleasure to visit Peckforton Castle.
Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century, this Grade I listed building is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country.
Over the years the Castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood and Dr Who.
Now owned by the Naylor family, the stunning exterior has been complemented by a loving and considered restoration programme resulting in a magnificent hotel and venue offering contemporary luxury and impeccable service.
From the Tranquility Beauty Spa to onsite falconry and team activities, it all adds up to a rather magical experience.
Rising majestically above the Cheshire landscape, Peckforton Castle’s enchanting medieval style, beauty and stunning location make it a truly impressive and desirable venue for weddings, christenings, birthday parties or just about anything that’s worth celebrating.
Every aspect plays a part; the fabulous setting, stunning location, the attentive service and smiling faces, the bespoke menus and decorations.
We stayed in a standard double bedroom, it was absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable.
This captivating castle offers 48 stunning bedrooms, all individually designed and beautifully appointed, blending luxury and contemporary decor.
All the guestrooms boast original features designed with complete luxury in mind.
The historical original features blend seamlessly with the modern comforts of today’s living with all rooms offering full en-suite bathroom facilities, flat screen televisions with digital freeview.
The rooms also offer complimentary high speed Wi-Fi, hospitality trays, plus the usual direct dial telephones, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards together with 24 hour in-room dining.
The breakfast was lovely, there was a wide range of goodies on offer, including fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, juices and full English breakfast.
Dining at the Castle truly is a special occasion, welcoming both public and hotel guests.
The 1851 Restaurant offers one of the region’s most exquisite experiences as holder of three AA Rosettes and a Taste Cheshire Award.
We enjoyed a delicious three course Table D’Hote Menu in the Fine Dining 1851 Restaurant and it was very tasty.
I had a beautifully cooked Compression confit Goosnargh Duck with pearl barley pomme mousseline as starter.
For main course, I enjoyed Lamb Rump roasted and hand carved with hive honey red cabbage, dauphinoise and roots, it was very tasty.
For dessert, I had Toffee Apple which is a warm sticky toffee pudding with apple crumble and caramel sauce.
The dessert was delicious and a perfect ending to our meal.
Peckforton Castle offers an array of activities to enhance your stay, including Falconry, Mountain Bikes, Landrover Experiences and Crazy Golf and endulgent treatment in the Tranquility Beauty Rooms.
We didn’t have the Falconry, but we could see the collection of ‘Birds of Prey’ include Owls, Hawks, Falcons, and Eagles.
They can all be found by day weathering on the castle lawns.
However we had the pleasure of taking part in the Land Rover Experience.
Peckforton Castle are the driving force behind the Cheshire franchise of the Land Rover Experience.
Every experience comes with expert personal tuition from a Land Rover Experience instructor who helps to get the best out of it.
The instructor was very helpful and we enjoyed the Land Rover Experience.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The food was very tasty, the staff was friendly and the room was simply enchanting.
It was out first time staying in a castle and we loved our stay. Thank you so much for having us and for making our stay so special and relaxing.
