Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing Raise Money for Great Ormond Street with Street Party!

Last year, I was invited to Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing to check out their Fabulous Newly Refurbished Salon Interior.

A few weeks ago, I returned to Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing as they kicked off summer in style raising over £730 for Great Ormond Street hospital by hosting the Sicilian Avenue Street Party! The salon organised the street party, enlisting the help of the other businesses on the Sicilian-style street for an evening of hairstyling, live music, flower arranging, beer tasting and more! I was glad to be part of the event and help to raise money for charity.

Put on for the locals and office workers alike, the village-fêté style event offered on-the-night discounts and freebies to accompany the hula-hooping street artist, quirky market stalls and free BBQ.

Whilst raising money for Great Ormond Street played a key part, the event was also aimed at boosting local business on the street. I went to the event after work and took a couple of work colleagues with me, until that evening, they had never been to Sicilian Avenue, but thanks to the street party, they are now aware of it.

Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing offered complimentary hair styling and nail painting, followed by a photo-shoot with a professional photographer in the salon. Guests were sent their photos free of charge and even left with a bespoke goody bag, tailored to their hair needs. I had my hair styled in the evening and loved the results.

I must say I’ve never dreamed of sporting a beehive hair style, but I really liked the end result. The fresh flowers made my hair style look even nicer. I also had a lot of fun in the photo-shoot, it was a very enjoyable evening!

‘Beer pong’ was a huge hit on the night – helping to raise a lot of the money for Great Ormond Street Hospital – but there was still room for a good old fashioned English raffle as each business put goods or services up for grabs. I bought a few tickets for the raffle, I didn’t win a prize, but it doesn’t matter as it was for a great cause.

Businesses involved on Sicilian Avenue included Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing; The Holborn Whippet; Stems Florist; Patisserie Valerie; Spaghetti House; Lotus Leaf; Sole Traders; Eyecare Opticians and Omran Menswear.

Thank you Brooks+Brooks Hairdressing for organising the Sicilian Avenue Street Party, it was a great event, not only it was very enjoyable, it also raised money for Great Ormond Street Hospital!
