Festival Fashion: The Evolution of Festival Fashion
It’s summer and the festival season is here! New Look has created a funky festival timeline detailing the evolution of music and fashion since 1969.
It starts with Hippy style listening to rock at Woodstock Festival, if I was alive back then, I would have loved the whole message of peace, openness and cultural expression at Woodstock. If you are going to a festival dressed as a hippie, you would need crochet, flares, head scarves, florals and long beads.
I was born in the 80s, just before Live Aid concert in London that raised £30m for starving people in Africa. It’s the world’s biggest rock festival organised by Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof to raise money for famine relief in Africa. To recreate the 80s style, you would need plaid skirts, oversized tees, leotards and Hawaiian shirts.
If you are looking for festival outfits ideas from hip-hop honey to glamorous pop princess, you will enjoy the festival fashion timeline.
The latest festival is Creamfields in Liverpool in 2011. The festival was incredibly popular and it got sold out with a capacity of 50,000 people each day. Creamfields is happening again this year in August bank holiday from 23-25 August.
To recreate the urban style you would need snap backs, printed tees and jumpers, cool disco pants and crop tops. Statement tees and bold prints are essential for urban style.
Whether you are going to festivals this year as a hippie, punk or rocker, you can find some inspiration and ideas in the festival fashion timeline.
