Date Night with RC Cola

When was the last time you and your husband/ partner had a date?

Did you know that…?

  • British couples prefer hot meals to steamy nights when it comes to dating
  • Onesies, Facebook and bad manners amongst the nation’s biggest turn offs
  • 1 in 4 wish their partners would up their dating game RC Cola Date Night

A study on the state of the nation’s relationships has revealed that a third of British couples never set aside time for a date night together. I must admit we don’t have date nights very often, mainly because we don’t get much with babysitting – actually I can’t remember the last time we had a child-free evening!

Despite almost half of the nation believing that regular date nights would bring them and their partner closer, one in three people neglect to set aside this quality time. Difficulties in finding the money, babysitters and time were all popular reasons for ducking out of a date. Around 16 per cent even cited their other halves as their biggest obstacle, with over a quarter wishing their partner would make more of an effort to instigate date nights together.

According to the research, conducted by Royal Crown Cola with over 2,000 Brits, over half of those lucky enough to enjoy a date night will spend it at home. More shockingly, it also revealed that Brits would rather see skills in the kitchen than the bedroom on date nights. In fact, four times as many people would prefer to share good food and drink with their loved ones rather than an evening of bedroom antics!

The nation’s most popular activities for date nights are:

  1. Enjoying a meal (42 per cent)
  2. Cosying up on the sofa with a box set/the soaps (20 per cent)
  3. Getting ‘lucky’! (11 per cent)
  4. Going to see a movie (9 per cent)
  5. Going to see a band (7 per cent)

The report, launched in support of RC Cola’s nationwide Date Night competition, also identified the biggest turn offs on a couple’s date night. From bad personal hygiene to wearing a onesie, there were many behaviours cited as a dating no-no. However, partners that fall asleep were the biggest pet peeve for women, whilst men were more annoyed by those distracted by mobile phones and social networking sites such as Facebook.

Date Night Pack: RC Cola, Film and Popcorn
Date Night Pack: RC Cola, Film and Popcorn

We were sent a Date Night pack with RC Cola, Ghost (one of the Top 10 movies on a date night) and some popcorn to enjoy a date night at home. Of course, we were also sent a copy of RC Cola Date Night Ultimate Guide for some tips.

Great food and drink were deemed the most important elements of a successful date night with the right mood, surprise and peace and quiet also cited as key ingredients. When it comes to making a good impression, one in five men would like to see their partner in a new outfit and women are ten times more likely to be impressed by small and personal touches rather than grand gestures.

So how did our date night go? It started by getting the drinks and popcorn ready. Hubby had the cherry flavoured RC Cola while I had the regular one. We had our phones on silent, computer switched off and we both enjoyed our drinks and popcorn while watching the movie. We had a lovely time and we will be doing it again soon!

RC Cola is available exclusively from ASDA stores from just £1. To download the Date Night guide, visit https://www.facebook.com/rccolafan.
