Family Fun: Sledging at Snozone Milton Keynes
A couple of weeks ago, we visited Snozone at Milton Keynes and the whole family had a lot of fun. We left sunny London on one of the warmest day of the year to cool down at Snozone freezing slope.
Snozone offers fun activities, slope sessions and ski and snowboarding lessons. One of the fun activities is sledging where you can enjoy sliding down the slop in a mixed adult and junior session which lasts 45 minutes and required no previous experience.
We have never been sledging before, so we were not sure what to expect. At first, I thought 45 minutes might not be enough, but after 20 minutes we started to get tired of going up the slope and realised that 45 minutes is a perfect timing, especially for little ones.
Little man had a great time, he loved sledging and enjoyed taking into turns with mummy and daddy. We were sliding together with him as he is only 4 and we all had a lot of fun.
Hubby and I also had a go at the ice slide where you sit inside a giant rubber tube and fly down a carved dual lane ice. No prior experience is required for the ice slide and it is suitable from 7 years old, so little man couldn’t have a go in the ice slide. It would have been a bit too fast for him, so I agree with the age restriction.
After we had fun sledging, I had a private skiing lesson with one of the instructors. I should start by saying I have never been skiing before in my life, I am from Brazil and we don’t get snow over there. Tom, the instructor, was lovely and very patient. I had a level one skiing lesson and left feeling there was still hope, if I carry on, I could be skiing in no time.
Whether you are just starting skiing like me or you have already some practice, Snozone offers a wide range of classes from beginners, where you learn basic movements, practice snowplough, turning and control speed, to intermediate classes which include plough parallel movements, parallel turns and active steering, and advanced lessons.
In case you are already experienced at skiing and you can link your turns, control your speed, use a button lift and fit your own boots correctly, you could simply book a ski slope pass and have fun skiing. There is a range of options available at
If you haven’t been sledging before, remember to wrap up warm. It doesn’t matter which month of the year you are visiting Snozone, it will be freezing – otherwise the snow would melt. It is minus 5 degrees in the slopes, so you need to bring the following clothing: full length trousers or salopettes, long sleeve jacket with a base layer, waterproof gloves and socks, and wellington boots or sturdy footwear for sledging. In case you don’t have appropriate clothing, there are coats, salopettes and wellington boots available to hire, and gloves and socks available to purchase.
Snozone provides skis, poles, boards, boots and helmets free to hire for ski and snowboard activities, and sledges and helmets free to hire for sledging and family activities. So you don’t need to worry about equipment, just your own clothing.
Overall, we had a great time at Snozone, sledging was a great family activity and the skiing lesson was very enjoyable. For more information, you can check https://www.snozoneuk.com/ You can check how our day went in the video:
