Pocket Shop: One Hour Supermarket Delivery in London

Last night, when I was on my way home from work I remembered that I didn’t have any soya milk, bread or cereal. Basically I wouldn’t be able to have a cup of tea after dinner or breakfast this morning. I finished work late, so the last thing I wanted was to go to a supermarket.

PocketShop.com is the first 1-hour supermarket delivery service in the country and they have just launched a new service across London. With Pocket Shop you can order your shopping online and get it delivered within an hour. It’s the ultimate in convenience shopping. You skip the supermarket hassle, trip, traffic, queues, carrying and Pocket Shop delivers your shopping on the same day.

When I started my journey home, I visited Pocket Shop on my mobile and quickly found everything I needed. I started my shopping by typing in my postcode, which directed me to my local Sainsbury’s store. I then had to register on the website and verify my mobile number via text message code and provide my address for the delivery.

There is an easy to navigate menu, divided into separate sessions so you can find whatever you need. There is a minimum £20 spend and delivery varies from £6.50 for one hour delivery, to £5.50 for 2h and £5.10 to 3h delivery.

Once I picked the items I needed, I’ve noticed the 1h delivery wasn’t available, so I opted for the 2h delivery. Ordering was simple and straightforward, as soon as I ordered, the 2h timer started. One hour after ordering, I received a phone call asking whether I would mind replacing my Vanilla soya yogurt with a plain one, I said it was fine and I was told that my order would arrive shortly. Ten minutes later I received a confirmation message it was on its way.

My delivery arrived within an hour and a half of ordering, well under the 2h delivery time by a shopper wearing a Pocket Shop logo. The Pocket Shop shopper was polite and explained what has been replaced as soon as I opened the door. Instead of one pack with 6 Pork Shoulder Steaks, I was given 2 packs with 3, so it works out the same. Instead of 660g of Chicken Thighs and Drumsticks, I was given a Freedom Food pack of 600g. The 4 pack bagel that I ordered was replaced with a 5 pack bagel. Overall, I got 60g less of chicken but gained 2 bagels (as I’ve ordered 2 packs), so it was all good and I was pleased with the shopper’s choice.

I must say my first experience with Pocket Shop was very pleasant and up to standard. My shopping arrived on time and the substitutions were done sensibly. Pocket Shop is perfect if the kids are sleeping and you can’t leave the house. I’ve noticed the opening hours in my local shop are until 11pm so I would have enough time to do my shopping after little man goes to bed.

Pocket Shop is  a great alternative if you don’t have enough time to go to the supermarket  or are looking after sick children – oh, and if you fancy ice cream and chocolate late at night but can’t be bothered to leave the home on your pjs!

I was given a voucher to cover the shopping and delivery for review purposes. However the opinions expressed in this review are honest and my own.
