Now that little man is at school, we need to think about what he will be having in his lunchbox, it needs to be tasty and healthy. Asda has launched a children’s food range with products taste-tested by kids, including porridge pots, sandwiches, snacks and microwavable meals.
Each product from Asda Chosen by Kids range has been independently tested by kids, between four and eight years old, who have given a thumbs up on taste and approved by mums to ensure that they are happy that they are dishing up nutritious tasty food on their little one’s plates.
The range has 180 products, which a suggestion for every eating occasion, whether that be a filling breakfast, scrummy lunch, delicious dinner or a supper snack. The entire range meets government HFSS criteria and many of the products also include cleverly disguised fruit and vegetables.
Little man and I went shopping to Asda so we could buy Asda Chosen by Kids products for his lunchbox, he loved the packaging straight away and found it colourful and attractive. They are upside down monsters in the individual fruit packs and yogurts, making them fun.
Little man loves fruit, so I alternate between whole fruit and individual packs with slices of fruit. Asda Chosen by Kids has a selection of multi-pack fruits, such as Sweet & Juicy Pears (£1.00) and Easy Peasy Peelers (£1.35). They are small enough for little hands, but count towards one of your five a day.
Asda Chosen by Kids has a wide selection of individual Monster Chomps fruit packs (6 for £2) including Apple and Grape, Apple and Pear, Grapes, Apple, Pineapple Lolly, Watermelon and even Carrot sticks. The 80g packs are convenient and perfect for lunchboxes.
If you prefer something different than fruit for lunchboxes, Asda Chosen by Kids Squeez’mees (£1.00 for 6) is a delicious yogurt with no bits, no artificial colours or flavours. They are made with whole milk yogurt blended with fruit puree.
Little man tried Raspberry and Strawberry Squeez’mees and loved both. Not only they are ideal for lunchboxes, they are also great at home as a healthy alternative to ice cream, you just need to put them in the fridge for a few hours for a healthy frozen treat.
Every kid loves jelly, Asda Chosen by Kids Strawberry Flavoured Jelly with Strawberry and Grape (RRP £1.00) was a success with little man. It is a nice dessert with fresh fruit, making it healthy.
Little man likes having juice in his lunchbox, but he has never tried flavoured water before, so we picked up a couple of different flavours of flavoured water to see whether he liked them. Asda Chosen by Kids Strawberry Flavoured Still Water (£1.78 for 6) and Orange and Pineapple Flavoured Water (£1.78 for 6) have no added sugar, no artificial colours or flavours, they are flavoured water drink with sweeteners. They were very popular with little man!
Little man picked Asda Chosen by Kids Apple & Mango Juice Drink which is a no added sugar apple and mango juice from concentrate with sweetener and added Vitamin C. It has no artificial colours or flavours and it tastes lovely.
I have been trying the Asda Chosen by Kids products with little man and we both love them, the packaging is fun for little ones and the products are healthy, making them attractive for mum, so we both recommend Asda Chosen by Kids (and approved by mums)!
