How to Cook Spaghetti Bolognaise with Jo Pratt (Recipe)
We love pasta, whether it is penne or spaghetti, with cream sauce or red sauce, it is a family favourite. Little man really likes Spaghetti Bolognese and TV Chef Jo Pratt has created an easy recipe that only uses the microwave, no pans in the hob, and it is ready within 30-40 minutes.
Spaghetti Bolognaise
Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1kg lean minced beef
- 2 large glasses of red wine
- 2 cans of chopped tomato or passata (400g)
- 1 jar of antipasti marinated mushrooms (290g)
- 2 fresh bay leaves
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- 14 sundried tomato halves
- Salt and pepper to season
- Fresh basil leaves
- Freshly grated parmesan
- 800g – 1kg spaghetti
Jo Pratt simply placed all the ingredients in a large bowl and mixed it all together so the mince meat at the bottom was coated with the red wine and seasoning. The bowl was then covered with pierced cling film, and placed in the Panasonic combination microwave oven to cook on a very clever setting called Meat Sauce Sensor Program.
Once the Spaghetti Bolognese sauce was ready, it was served with pasta, fresh basil leaves and grated parmesan. It is mouth watering!
I like adding red wine to meat as it gives it a beautiful rich flavour, but I must admit I have never thought of adding sundried tomato and antipasti marinated mushrooms to our Spaghetti Bolognaise sauce. I will be trying Jo Pratt’s recipe soon as it seems effortless and really easy and practical.
Instead of stirring the sauce at the hob, I could have a relaxing bath before dinner. By the time I am out of the bath, the Bolognaise sauce should be ready and we could all sit down at the dinner table and eat as a family. That’s my idea of an ideal evening!
