Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite leads National Baking Week
Little man and I love baking together, last year we celebrated National Baking Week by making lovely cakes. We also shared our Top 5 Tips for Baking with Kids.
Back in May, I was invited to a baking Masterclass with John Whaite in celebration of National Baking Week, which is from 14th to 20th October this year. It was a lovely sunny afternoon full of delicious cakes and treats.
This October, John Whaite, winner of Great British Bake Off, is encouraging kitchen whizzes and baking beginners alike to rise up and join the baking revolution – in support of National Baking Week and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
With a passionate aim to get more people baking more often, John has spent hours perfecting five mouthwatering recipes to appeal to bakers of all abilities and all tastes. From gluten free Pistachio and Chocolate Torte for Gwyneth Paltrow types, to posh Fillet Steak and Stilton Pasties and a simple Salted Caramel and Chocolate Swiss Roll that takes less than 30 minutes, John’s got it covered.
John said, “I am thrilled to be teaming up with National Baking Week and hope I can encourage even more people to get baking with my recipes and tips. A revolution is taking place in kitchens up and down the country as people realise how easy and rewarding it is to bake and National Baking Week is a celebration of that.”
It’s easy to join John in celebrating National Baking Week: All you have to do is pick a recipe and give it a go — it doesn’t matter if it’s not perfect, homemade tastes better and it’s always more appreciated.
To show your support for Great Ormond Street, charity partner of National Baking Week, why not hold a bake sale and donate the proceeds? All proceeds raised will help to build a new kitchen in the hospital’s respiratory ward.
National Baking Week is supported by key baking brands Pyrex, Kenwood, Just Milk, Billington’s, Nielsen-Massey, JUS-ROL and Stork. Use their range of products and ingredients to help get the most out of your bakes for National Baking Week.
