Special K New Multi-Grain Porridge

I don’t know how many times I’ve said that I can’t be without breakfast – fact! I wake up thinking of what I am going to have with my cup of tea in the morning and porridge is one of my favourite breakfast, especially in the colder months.

I was pleased to find out that Speciak K has launched a new breakfast range. Special K is turning up the heat this winter as it introduces its first ever porridge for slimmers. New Special K Multi-Grain Porridge is set to get women hot under the collar with its delicious three grain recipe made from oats, barley and rye – making it 30 per cent less fat than other porridges and naturally high in fibre.

New Special K Multi-Grain Porridge is also fortified with seven vitamins and iron and it is available in sachets and pots with three tasty flavours including Original, Red Berries and Almond & Honey – containing real fruit and nut inclusions.

I was sent the three flavours to try, the original New Special K Multi-Grain Porridge is a microwavable porridge, lovely on its own or topped up with fruit and raisins.

The Almond & Honey flavour is my favourite as it has pieces of almonds, giving the porridge a lovely texture, which is complemented by the sweetness of the honey.

The Red Berries flavour is very tasty too, it has freeze dried strawberry and raspberry pieces, which add a lovely taste to the multi-grain porridge.

Overall, I really enjoyed trying the New Special K Multi-Grain Porridge, it is convenient as it is ready after a couple of minutes in the microwave. My only comment would be on the portion size, 27g per sachet, which I found to be a little on the small side.

I am aware I am quite keen on having a big breakfast (I wake up hungry every morning), but one sachet should be plenty for most people. It is not a major problem though as I can easily add two sachets to my breakfast bowl instead of one, and both sachets together are only 208 calories, so I can’t complain – Special K Multi-Grain Porridge is tasty and low in calories, what more could I ask for?!

Special K Multi-Grain Porridge will be in all major supermarkets and convenience stores at £1.99 for 7 x 27g sachets Original and 6 x 27g sachets Red Berries and Almond & Honey varieties. Individual 50g pots will be priced at 99p. For more information, please visit www.myspecialk.co.uk
