Kids Book: The Slightly Annoying Elephant by David Walliams
We love reading books, now that little man is at school and he is learning to read, he enjoys books even more. He really likes doing the phonics and reading the words on his own.
What’s big, blue, bossy, and turns up uninvited? A slightly annoying elephant, of course! The book tells the story of a little boy called Sam who is amazed to find a rather annoying elephant on his doorstep!
It was launched today, David Walliams’ first ever picture book, The Slightly Annoying Elephant, illustrated by Tony Ross. It’s a magnificently warm and funny picture book from the two extraordinary talents. The hardback book would make a lovely Christmas present.
The book has a lovely story in which an elephant turns up at Sam’s house after the boy filled in a ‘Adopt an Elephant’ form at the zoo. The last thing he was expecting was a real elephant to arrive at his house all the way from Africa.
The little boy and the elephant have a funny time together, the elephant is more like a person than an animal. He demands food, he mentions he needs to take some exercise to lose a few pounds, he tries to ride a bike, and do other things expected from humans.
The book is funny and enjoyable, it has bright pictures which are appealing for little ones, and it has an interesting story which appeals to both children and grown-ups alike.
