Kids Book: Wakey Wakey Big Brown Bear
we are part of Parragon Book Review Club as a Parragon Book Buddy. We are excited to receive new children’s books on a regular basis, this month we have received “Wakey Wakey Big Brown Bear”.
Wakey Wakey Big Brown Bear (RRP £5.99), written by Tracey Corderoy and illustrated by Rachel Swirles, is an enchanting seasonal story about friendship and fun.
It’s Autumn and time for Big Brown Bear to have a nice sleep, however he won’t wake up until Winter. Big Brown Bear doesn’t want to go to bed, he is not happy he will miss playing in the crunchy leaves, and splashing in rain puddles, and watching the snow fall. Luckily his friends are on hand to help, they will make sure Big Brown Bear doesn’t miss a thing. His friends promise to wake him up, but nothing works. So they come up with a clever plan.
Little Grey Mouse tried to wake his friend when the forest was a carpet of leaves, Snow Hare tried to wake her friend when the rain came tumbling down, and the Squirrel tried to wake his friend when snowflakes filled the sky. As Big Brown Bear wouldn’t wake up from his long sleep, his friends saved Autumn and Winter for when he woke up in Spring.
It is such a lovely book, little man really enjoyed seeing the animals being kind and helping each other. The bright pictures in the book shows what happens during different seasons, while telling a beautiful story of friendship.
