Tenderstem Broccoli
I am lucky little man is not a fussy eater, he enjoys fruit and vegetables. For some reason, he has his vegetables first, then the rest of his meal. One of his favourite vegetables is broccoli, from a very young age he loved the idea of eating little trees and he would go through lots and lots of broccoli.
Tenderstem takes less time to cook than other broccoli, it is ready to be eaten after three minutes of steam-boiling. We have been enjoying some Tenderstem with our meals lately and it is very tasty! We had it with steak and chips, Tenderstem added a nice crunch to our meal and it complemented the flavours of the dish.
Not only it is tasty, Tenderstem is also packed with vitamins. It contains twice the vitamin C content of the equivalent fresh weight of oranges and has a higher concentration of vitamin C than both cauliflower and cabbage – 100g portion of Tenderstem provides the full daily requirement of vitamin C.
Tenderstem also contains one of the highest levels of folic acid, which is vital for expectant mothers looking to reduce the risk of spina bifida in babies, and valuable for the treatment of anemia and fatigue. Tenderstem is also high in vitamin A and potassium and is a good source of iron, vitamin B6 and Calcium.
I like the fact that you can eat the whole Tenderstem, each spear is packed with goodness from floret to tip and you don’t need to discard anything at all. Tenderstem is succulent and sweet, it can be eaten on his own. We also had it as a side dish with salsa dip, and it was delicious.
Tenderstem is versatile and can be used on several dishes, but I bet you never thought about using it in a wrap. We tried Tenderstem in a wrap with chicken, peppers and guacamole and it made a lovely colourful meal. The whole family enjoyed it and asked for more!
