Birds Eye Melt in the Middle Fishcakes

During the week, we don’t have as much time to spend in the kitchen as we would like to, so we try and find quick ways to create tasty and nutritious meals, suitable for the whole family.

Birds Eye has launched a new range of products in a bid to make midweek dining low-effort, such as Veg Fusions, a fusion of fresh vegetables complemented with herbs and seasons which we have tried recently, and Melt in Middle Fishcakes.

Birds Eye Melt in the Middle Fishcakes are made of chunky flakes of succulent fish with real mashed potato and a saucy melting middle, all wrapped in a crunchy golden breadcrumb, making it a perfect everyday treat. The fishcakes are available in two flavours:

Birds Eye Melt in the Middle Haddock & Creamy Cheese Fishcakes are made of smoked haddock with Alaska Pollock with a gruyere, cheddar and parsley sauce centre, coated in breadcrumb.

We enjoyed the Haddock & Creamy Cheese Fishcakes with Birds Eye Field Fresh Super Sunshine Mix, single steamers with sweetcorn, carrot batons and peas, and Birds Eye Rice Fusions in Tender Green Vegetable Rice with herb seasoning.  We had a delicious meal, the fishcake was very tasty and the cheese sauce was so creamy!

Birds Eye Melt in the Middle Cod, Tomato & Herb Fishcakes has a Mediterranean style sauce centre, coated in breadcrumb. We had the fishcakes with Birds Eye Field Fresh Classic Garden Mix, single steamers with green beans, sliced carrots and peas, and Birds Eye Rice Fusions Mexican Rice.

The cod, tomato and herb fishcake was delicious and complemented nicely by the Mexican rice and vegetables.

Both meals were ready in half an hour, we enjoyed a balanced healthy meal, which was tasty and nutritious in no time. The whole family enjoyed the fishcakes, they are lovely on their own, but the sauce in the middle makes them even more delicious. Our favourite is Haddock & Creamy Cheese fishcake, the sauce is full of flavour and well seasoned.
