Keep Your Family Warm With Hive Active Heating
Although we have been living in the same place for over 7 years, I still don’t know how to work the timer in our boiler, meaning that we have to switch the heating on and off manually whenever we need to.
Due to the rising costs of gas and electricity, we have been trying to use less energy by switching off our home appliances when we are not using them, instead of leaving on standby. We have also cut down how long we leave the heating on – actually, I should say that I am making an effort to put an extra layer when I’m cold. On the other hand, hubby is happy to switch on the heating while wearing short sleeved tops.
I have lost count how many times we left home and forgot to switch off the heating, usually hubby is the one switching it on and I’m the one turning if off. Several times we have gone to sleep and forgot the heating on all night, wasting energy. It would be great to have more control over our heating without having to do it manually.
A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a new ad at my local tube station, it said: “Weather going bananas? Control your heating with your phone.” When I got home, I checked the website and found out that Hive Active Heating allows you to control your heating remotely, wherever you are, whatever you are up to.
By using the Hive app, you can keep track of your heating and hot water, there is also a frost protection which activates automatically to help avoid frozen pipes when the temperature drops, particularly useful if you are away over the festive period.
You can also schedule your heating, setting up to 4 events in your daily schedule, so your home will be warm when you are in and the heating will be off when you don’t need it, saving you money.
It is pretty impressive what Hive can do, and you don’t even need to switch your current energy supplier, you simply need to pay a one-off fee of £199 for the full kit including professional installation by a British Gas engineer.
Once you have your state of the art wireless thermostat, receiver and hub, you will be able to remotely control your heating and hot water via phone, tablet and laptop, by using the free app and online dashboard.
I just love the idea of using the new technology to control our heating and hot water when we are not home. Often we are rushing to leave the house and forget to switch off our heating. Hive can also help when we are due home earlier than expected, by warming up the house with a touch of a button on my phone – how clever is that?! Hive is perfect for busy mums that want to keep their family warm and comfortable.
