Breakfast Survival
In my opinion, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Although we only have an hour between waking up and leaving home, I make sure we have a nutritious and balanced breakfast to start the day.
We usually have a bowl of cereal for breakfast during the week, it is convenient and quick, perfect when you are trying to juggle too many activities at the same time.
During half term, our family was invited to a journey into the breakfast jungle to launch Nestlé Cereals’ new campaign to help parents make sure their family has a great breakfast. Nestlé Cereals is aware that balancing the morning rush with making sure families have a nutritious breakfast can sometimes feel difficult.
According to new research by Nestlé Cereals, 70% of parents say they have less than an hour to get through a to do list that includes checking homework, walking the dog, getting everyone washed and dressed – as well making breakfast – before finally making it out the door.
We really enjoyed the interactive breakfast expedition to learn more about the nutritional benefits of breakfast cereals. While I was chatting to nutritionist Juliette Kellow, she mentioned that Nestlé Cereals, fortified with essential vitamins and minerals, are a great breakfast choice.
Cereals such as Cheerios, Shreddies, Shredded Wheat, Cookie Crisp and Curiously Cinnamon are made with whole grain, contributing to a varied and balanced diet.
They are also fortified with vitamins and minerals, such as B vitamins, calcium and iron, to help you start the day in a balanced way. I learnt that, cereals are not only nutritious, but also affordable, priced at 26p per serving of cereal with milk.
We had fun at the Jungle Breakfast Room, holding creepy crawlies and bugs. Little man really enjoyed holding the giant millipede and seeing other animals. I had a go at eating bugs for the very first time, it was an interesting experience.
Jewel beetles are a great source of calcium, but you could have a bowl of Cheerios as a more convenient option; Mopane Caterpillar is a good source of iron, but instead you could enjoy a bowl of Shreddies.
We don’t have edible bugs at home, so we will stick with a bowl of cereal at breakfast time.
I was under no obligation to write this post, just wanted to share my experience. The opinions expressed in this post are honest and my own.
