Family Lunch at Kamps: The Heart of Fine Baking
Last week, we visited Kamps in Tottenham Court Road for a family lunch. Kamps Backerei Cafe is a modern premium bakery, bringing the heart of Germany’s fine baking tradition to London. There is a branch in central London and another one in High Street Kensington.
Once we arrived at Kamps, we were greeted by the friendly staff and we could smell freshly baked bread straight away. While we were looking at the menu, we were spoilt by choice and wanted to try a bit of everything, it all looked so delicious!
There was a wide range of products on offer, from hot and cold sandwiches to flatbreads and German hot dogs. If you prefer a sweet treat, you can have one of their pastries or a piece of cake with a cup of coffee. You can also enjoy authentic German Pretzels, such as cheese pretzel and pretzel stick.
I decided to try one of the flatbreads, available in three different flavours. The Italian flatbread had cheese, tomato, pesto and rocket, it was beautifully cooked and very tasty.
Little man also had the Italian flatbread, he called it pizza and really enjoyed it. It is much thinner than a pizza base, and much better in my opinion. The flatbread was cooked while we were waiting, only took a few minutes.
I enjoyed my flatbread with cappuccino made with Kamps signature blend developed with a British wood-oven roaster. Kamps coffee is ethically and ecologically sourced, combining El Salvador Las Lajas, Ethiopia Sidamo and Sumatra Cherry beas. My soya cappuccino was lovely!
Hubby had a German Hot Dog and mentioned it was very tasty. He also tried one of the hot sandwiches, Meatball Salsa Cheese, spicy meatballs in salsa and mozzarella served on Krusti bread. I had a bite of his sandwich and it was so delicious, the bread was fresh and the filling was full of flavour.
You can eat in at Kamps or take away their lovely products, we brought home a box full of pastries and cakes. We tried Raisin Whirl, Almond and Cinnamon Pastry and Fruit Plunder, the pastries were soft and very tasty.
We also had the chance to try some of their cakes, Apple Crumble, Chocolate Cake and Brownie, they melted in the mouth with the lovely combination of flavour.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family lunch at Kamps, the food was very tasty and the staff was friendly and helpful. The menu had a large selection of items on offer, the products were full of flavour, made with fresh and high quality ingredients. We are looking forward to our next visit to Kamps!
We visited Kamps for review purposes. However the opinions expressed in this review are honest and my own.
