In our romantic meal, hubby enjoyed finest* a la carte Lamb Shank with Roasted Vegetables, tender New Zealand lamb marinated in garlic and herbs, slowly cooked for three hours until perfectly tender. The meat was falling off the bone and the gravy was nice and rich.
I had finest* a la carte Scotch Flat Iron Steak with Brandy Cream, slowly braised steak with a wonderfully creamy sauce made with oak aged Armagnac brandy. The beef was tender and full of flavour, the dish is served in a creamy sauce with mushrooms and potato rosti.
We picked two sides: finest* a la carte Potato & Parsnip Dauphinoise, finely sliced potatoes and parsnips baked in a rich British double cream sauce with a hint of garlic, topped with Gruyere cheese. I’ve never tried parsnip with dauphinoise potato before, it is a flavoursome combination. Our other side was a very tasty finest* a la carte Mushroom & Spinach Gratin, flat and brown mushroom roasted to bring out their nutty flavours, with fresh spinach and Gruyere cheese crumb.
Our meal was enjoyed with a glass of finest* Prosecco, a sparkling wine with aromas of wildflowers balanced on the palate by notes of pear, and a refreshingly crisp acidity.
After our meal, hubby had a creamy finest* a la carte Madagascan Vanilla Pannacotta, made with West Contry double cream and served with a mixed berry compote.
While I had a pretty finest* a la carte Heritage Raspberry Torte with rich all butter sponge and creamy, fruity cheesecake and a sweet glaze, served with Heritage raspberry compote. Our desserts were both lovely, I might have tried a spoon or two of hubby’s pannacotta, and it was as delicious as my raspberry torte.
