New Tesco Sushi Range
I love sushi, I don’t mind having raw fish, but I am aware not everyone likes the thought of eating raw fish. Tesco has launched a new sushi range containing only smoked or fully cooked fish, duck and chicken, with nothing raw in sight.
This highly versatile and naturally healthy new range can be enjoyed as an alternative to the lunchtime sarnie or as a wholesome but all together satisfying snack between meals.
And, if that’s still not convinced you, then Tesco has taken it one step further by introducing the first ever ‘nori-free’ sushi packs.
Instead, the black seaweed, which is usually used in Sushi, has been replaced with a range of beautifully coloured natural Origami Wraps made from fruit and vegetables – and all free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives as well as being gluten free and low in calories.
I tried Tesco Limited Edition Salmon and Prawn Selection, a really delicious and satisfying lunchtime treat for salmon and prawn lovers, containing smoked salmon sushi sandwiches, prawn & red pepper sushi sandwiches, poached salmon & dill California roll in a lemon wrap, garlic & chilli prawn California roll in a pomegranate wrap, yellow pepper hosomaki in a mango wrap, carrot hosomaki in a carrot wrap, red pepper hosomaki in a pomegranate wrap, roasted red pepper temari, sweet potato & chive temari and herb temari.
Tesco Mixed Selection with Smoked Salmon, Prawn, Duck & Chicken, containing hoi sin duck & cucumber California roll with a black sesame seed coating, prawn in Thai chilli & ginger sauce California roll with a coriander coating, char sui chicken & carrot California roll with a white sesame seed coating, red cabbage hosomaki, chicken hosomaki, smoked salmon nigiri, brown rice chargrilled pepper & sesame seed mixed nigiri.
More choices have been added to the existing ‘Pick n Mix’ range, small single protein packs on an offer of two packs for £2, now includes tuna and cucumber, as well as chilli and garlic mackerel – so there’s certainly something to suit all taste buds.
I’ve tried Tesco Pick n Mix Hoisin Duck with hoi sin duck and cucumber California roll with a black sesame seed coating, cucumber hosomaki and duck hoi sin hosomaki. I’ve also tried Tesco Pick n Mix Sweet Chilli Chicken with sweet chilli chicken California roll, red pepper hosomaki, sweet chilli chicken hosomaki.
I am already a fan of Tesco sushi, the new sushi range has a wide selection of products and it is very tasty. The sushi meal packs come with a bottle of soy sauce, a sachet of pickled ginger, a sachet of wasabi and a set of chopsticks, ready to be enjoyed on the go, while the Pick n Mix boxes come with a bottle of soy sauce.
Tesco sushi is available at selected stores.
