Revolutionary Checkout App: MyCheck Lunch at Busaba

I’ve lost count how many times I had to wait for ages when trying to pay a restaurant bill. It is especially frustrating when you are out for lunch during the week, and need to have lunch and get back to the office within your lunch break.

I was invited to Alan Yau’s modern Thai eatery, Busaba Eathai, to learn about a revolutionary checkout app that allows you to pay straight from your smartphone. MyCheck is a new free app, available on iPhone and Android, that makes the tedious bill waiting and paying in restaurants much more efficient and uncomplicated.

Technology is revolutionising checking out of restaurants, it’s been said that “MyCheck is to restaurants, what Halo is to black cabs”. MyCheck is designed to make paying a restaurant bill quick and easy by enabling users to pay their bill straight from their phone so that they can leave when they are ready – making that sometimes lengthy and frustrating wait for the bill or credit/debit card receipt a thing of the past.

It was my first visit to Busaba Eathai and I was impressed by their diverse but simple menu offering a flavoursome and authentic selection of Thai salads, noodles, curries and stir-fries.

While I was at Busaba, I learnt the easy steps to pay with MyCheck app, you choose your location, share your unique code with your server, control your bill on your phone during the service, pay the bill or split it with friends, either evenly, by percentage or by item and then work out how much to tip.

Launched in 2011 when the two MyCheck founders said to one another: “How cool would it be if we could just leave (the restaurant/bar) without waiting for the bill…?” MyCheck is now available in the UK, also in the US and Israel where it works with thousands of users and hundreds of locations.

Overall, I find MyCheck app great, the idea of paying and leaving a restaurant when you are ready is fantastic, making the whole bill process so much easier. I had a very tasty meal at Busaba and I look forward to returning to the restaurant and using MyCheck app to pay my bill when I’m ready to leave.
