Home Inspiration: Flooring Makeover

When we decided to look for a place to buy, we went for potential and location, rather than how beautiful it looked. The first time I walked into our home, I was shocked by the previous’ owner taste – or lack of, I should say. There were several layers of wallpapers on the walls, old furniture scattered around the place, outdated kitchen with cupboards that didn’t close properly, mismatched style and very tired floorboards.

Hubby saw the potential of the place and asked me to imagine how it would be if we stripped the layers of wallpapers, added new wallpapers and our choice of painting, changed the whole kitchen and bathroom, boiler and radiators around the house.

We knew the place needed a lot of work, but once it was done, it would be our lovely new home. We had to change basically everything from top to bottom, including getting new doors fitted and laying laminate flooring. We picked Light Varnished Oak Laminate, which is a scratch-resistant wood effect laminate with natural finish.

At the time, I wasn’t sure whether we should go for carpets or laminate floors, but after speaking to friends and family, we decided that laminate floors would be more suitable. We were planning on starting a new family and have children, so laminate flooring would be ideal as they are durable and affordable and can easily cleaned after spills.

Seven years on, I am glad we opted for laminate flooring, it is still in good condition, but I fancy a change. What should I go for? Perhaps this funky and contemporary Mocha Oak Laminate with a gorgeous three strip design. I really like how modern it looks, surely the new flooring would add a touch of elegance to our house.
