Easter Food and Drink Pairing and Easter Cocktail Recipe

We love getting together with our family over Easter, spending quality time and sharing some lovely food and drinks. Whether you are planning on a Sunday lunch, sipping cocktails or eating lots of chocolate, Aldi’s great value range has something for everyone this Easter.

Philippe Michel Crémant de Jura
Philippe Michel Crémant de Jura

Fish with Fizzy Drink

What better way to enjoy Easter celebrations than with a glass of refreshing fizz? The Philippe Michel Crémant de Jura (£6.99, 75cl) is a fantastic alternative to Champagne made from Chardonnay grown in the Jura near the Franco-Swiss border. This crisp, apple scented wine has all the depth, complexity and looks of a wine costing twice the price.  The excellent acidity makes it great with Aldi’s Specially Selected Sliced Smoked Salmon (£2.99) – perfect if you’re serving a traditional Good Friday fish supper or if you want to start the long weekend with a sparkle.

French Pinot Noir

Lamb with Pinot Noir

Soft, smooth & fruity with rich red fruit aromas & lush berry flavours, the grapes in this French Pinot Noir (£4.49, 75cl) have been carefully selected from across France to produce this delicious wine. The lush fruit in the bottle complements spring lamb perfectly – try with Ashfield Farm Half Leg of Lamb (£7.49).

Orchard Premium Apple Cider

Pork with Apple Cider

Not everyone is a wine fan so why not serve cider which is particularly good with pork, but also works well with creamy chicken dishes. Orchard Premium Apple Cider (99p, 568ml) is a traditional English cider made from the best quality apples – enjoy served over ice for extra refreshment. Try with our Ashfield Farm British Pork Joint (£4.99).

We love cocktails, I must say we don’t usually enjoy them at Easter time, but what a great idea to enjoy Easter cocktails. I can’t wait to try Rabbit’s Milk/ White Chocolate Bunny Cocktail, sounds so tasty! Hubby is currently fasting for Greek Lent, he is vegan until Easter Sunday, so we will be enjoying this lovely cocktail with our Easter BBQ – can’t wait!

Rabbit’s Milk/White Chocolate Bunny Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients

  • 30ml Old Hopking Dark rum
  • 30ml Cocobay White Rum and Coconut
  • 100ml cold Full Cream Milk
  • 50ml Double Cream
  • Ice cubes
  • Grated white chocolate and cocoa powder to garnish

Method

1. Place the all ingredients (except garnish) into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well.

2. Strain the liquid into a tall glass and garnish grated white chocolate. Dust with cocoa powder.

Coconut and white chocolate is a fantastic combination and the rum in this cocktail helps to cut through the richness of the chocolate.
