Easter Holiday Fun: Rio 2 at Cineworld

We are having lots of fun over the Easter holidays, luckily little man is now better from chickenpox, so we can enjoy the last few days before he goes back to school.

We love watching movies at our local Cineworld, we’ve seen Smurfs 2 and Monsters University and we were looking forward to Rio 2 starring our favourite feathery friends.

City bird Blu finds himself hilariously out of his depth during an Amazon adventure in this colourful sequel. Having secured the future of their species, formerly flightless pet macaw Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and the lovely Jewel (Anne Hathaway) are raising their young family in Rio. But then they learn of an amazing discovery in the Amazon jungle. It seems they weren’t the last blue macaws after all. So Jewel cajoles domesticated homebody Blu into embarking on a voyage of discovery in the wild.

Along the way, they find her gruff dad Eduardo (Andy Garcia) and hunky, crooning childhood friend Roberto (Bruno Mars)! Little wonder our poor hero is feeling rather inadequate. But you can be sure he’ll prove himself once again. All the old gang are back for this high-flying sequel to the hit animation. They’re joined by great new characters voiced by Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth and will.i.am.

The whole family had a great time at Cineworld once again, the sweet popcorn was tasty as always, while Rio 2 was a funny, colourful and vibrant movie, full of beautiful music. As a Brazilian, I loved seeing the Amazon rainforest and the Brazilian beats in the movie. We all left Cineworld saying what a great time we had and how great Rio 2 was!
