I Can’t Sing! The X-Factor Musical at London Palladium
We love going to the theatre and we enjoy watching X-Factor and its hopeful contestants, so we were looking forward to our evening at London Palladium. I Can’t Sing! The X-Factor Musical has been was written by comedy superstar Harry Hill and award-winning composer Steve Brown.
The musical is very funny from beginning to end, it is a parody of the talent show, cleverly mocking its contestants, judges and presenters. The brilliant scene changes and high-tech effects added an extra touch of entertainment to the show.
We had great seats and could see all the action only a few rows from the front. At times, it felt like the cast was serenading us with their beautiful voices, which made the whole experience very enjoyable.
In I Can’t Sing, Nigel Harman plays Simon Cowell and the show tells the story of lovebirds Chenise (Cynthia Erivo) and Max (Alan Morrisey), both in their twenties. They enter the X-Factor with a great back story, Chenise lost her grandfather in a tragic accident, which inspired her to sing, while ukulele player Max wanted to sing his own songs and lyrics.
I Can’t Sing is a West End show like no other, a variety show with a contemporary twist, full of stunning performances with a good measure of comedy and laughter. The parody versions of judges Louis (Ashley Knight) and Jordy (Victoria Elliott) and presenter Liam O’Deary (Simon Bailey) are simply hilarious.
Talking dog Barlow (Simon Lipkin) was the icing on the cake, comedy genius with his jokes and comments throughout the show. I am aware that I Can’t Sing might not be a musical for everyone, but we all left the theatre sharing the same thought, convinced that it was one of the best comedy West End shows we have ever been to. Perfect if you are looking for a relaxing evening and highly recommended if you are an X-Factor fan.
Thank you TalkTalk for our tickets, we really enjoyed the show. It was lovely seeing Kip and Michelle and sharing our views of the musical.
