Celebrate Sandwich Week with Unilever Kitchen
Today is the first day of Sandwich Week, running from 19th to 25th May, and we are blessed with a beautiful sunny weather, perfect for picnics and al fresco lunches.
We were sent a lovely picnic box from Unilever Kitchen full of flavour packed sauces and condiments to help us create some delicious al fresco feast to be enjoyed in the great outdoors.
Unilever Kitchen has a wide range of products to jazz up with sandwiches, so there is no need to suffer with the same old dull fillings.
We had so many choices to create sandwiches with: Colman’s chunky burger sauce, Colman’s fiery BBQ sauce, Colman’s sweet chilli mango sauce, Colman’s wholegrain mustard, Colman’s English mustard.
I love mayonnaise, so I was delighted to find the original Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and some lovely Hellmann’s squeezy flavoured mayo with a twist, such as mayo with a touch of garlic, mayo with a hit of caramelised onion, mayo with a twist of pepper, mayo with a zing of lemon and mayo with a spark of chilli.
We tried a few sandwiches with the sauces and condiments, and our favourites are:
Chicken mayo salad with Hellmann’s mayonnaise with a touch of garlic: perfect as a Monday sandwich to use any chicken leftover from the weekend roast. Simply add a generous squeeze of mayonnaise to shredded chicken and lettuce to your choice of bread for a delicious sandwich.
Roasted vegetables and haloumi with Hellmann’s mayonnaise with a hit of caramelised onion: light and tasty sandwich, perfect to be served in pitta bread. The caramelised onion flavour in the mayonnaise complements the roasted vegetables, we had courgettes, mixed peppers and onions, as well as halloumi.
Peppered steak burger with Colman’s chunky burger sauce: this beautiful weather calls for a BBQ and nothing like a tasty sauce, such as Colman’s chunky burger sauce to add more flavour to burgers and meats.
Herb crusted salmon sandwich with Colman’s sweet chilli mango sauce: the herbs and pesto crust of the salmon is perfectly complemented by sweet chilli mango, ideal with chicken and fish.
We really enjoyed creating sandwiches with Unilever Kitchen and we are looking forward to more delicious sandwiches during Sandwich Week. Bring on the exciting sandwiches!
