Home Decoration: Bedroom Mini Makeover on a Budget
Spring is here, it is a great time for spring cleaning and freshen up. In my opinion, home decoration is all about adding a few touches, making the rooms feel more cosy. You can give your home a facelift by replacing a few items with a mini makeover, and it doesn’t need to cost a fortune.
Saving money is one of my favourite subjects, it is amazing how much you can buy when you are shopping around and looking after your pennies. I consider myself a savvy shopper so I was delighted to take part in Debt Free Direct’s new campaign about savvy shopping.
Inspired by Debt Free Direct’s thrifty blog about money saving tips – Making Money Go Further – I was asked to find out whether supermarket brands cut it when it comes to home decorations. Is their quality as good as on the high street? Could you tell the difference between something bought at a supermarket or high street?
I could choose any room for the home decoration project, and decided to give our bedroom a facelift with items from a supermarket brand of our choice. We picked Tesco Jersey Stripe Duvet Set (RRP £30, on sale for £22.50), a gorgeous kingsize duvet in dark grey with a duvet cover and a pair of matching pillowcases.
It is made of 100% cotton, making it very soft and cosy. We love the modern horizontal stripe design and button details.
We wanted a rug for a while, so we picked Tesco Scribble Rug (RRP £40, on sale for £20) in black and white, measuring 120 x 70cm. It is made from colour fast supersoft heatset polypropylene treated with stained inhibitors and with Jute backing material.
The rug is beautiful, adding a touch of warmth to the bedroom. We haven’t had rugs in a long time as I don’t find rugs with stains attractive, but this black rug with a white design can be wipe cleaned with a damp cloth and it is mostly black, so you can’t see stains in case something spills on it.
Once our bedroom had a new soft duvet set and cosy rug, it was time to add a beautiful scent to the room. Tesco Spiced Berry Diffuser (RRP £6.00) has a warm and inviting spiced berry aroma. The diffuser blends the scent of citrus fruits with notes of Bourgeon de cassis and patchouli.
Not only the diffuser looks lovely, it also smells beautiful, we love the aroma and spiced berry fragrance in our bedroom.
We were also sent Tesco Lighting Milford Ceiling Fitting (RRP £25), but we haven’t been able to install the ceiling light yet. I’m looking forward to adding the distinctive dome shape with a modern nickel finish to our bedroom.
Overall, we are very impressed with the supermarket items used in our bedroom mini makeover. Not only supermarket brands are cheaper than high street brands, their home décor items are fashionable and made of great quality material.
Budget home decoration is definitely a great alternative when trying to save money, I’m now looking into decorating others rooms in our home, insired by Tesco SS14 Home & Lifestyle Range.
