Lilinha Angel’s World Food & Drink – June 2014

I can’t believe it is already end of June, the last day of the month has arrived very quickly and I nearly missed it. This month, we have been enjoying some lovely food and drinks, as well as taking part in the food poverty challenge with Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection.

As usual, I’ve compiled a handy list of the products that we have tried, tested. They have been included in our monthly Lilinha Angel’s World Food & Drink feature so you can look out for them on your next grocery shopping.

In no particular order, those are the delicious food and refreshing drinks our family tried this month:

Pringles Brazilian Zesty Chilli Style
Pringles Brazilian Zesty Chilli Style

Pringles Brazilian Zesty Chilli Style (RRP £2.69) is a new Brazilian-themed flavour designed to be enjoyed while watching the Brazil 2014 World Cup, and any big match party. The zesty carnival-inspired bites are full of flavour, you can really taste a citrus lime flavour, which made me think of summer days in Brazil.

The combination of citrus and chilli worked really well, I was pleased to see that the chilli flavour added a kick to the crisps, without being too overpowering. Pringles Brazilian Zesty Chilli Style  is available exclusively at Asda for a limited time only.

Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits
Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits

Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits (RRP £1.69) are deliciously crunchy and coated in thick Belgian dark chocolate, made with no artificial colours or flavourings. They are perfect if you have a sweet tooth like me, each biscuit has only 51 calories, equivalent of 1 ProPoint.

I really liked the delicious taste of the biscuit, they don’t seem to be low-calorie at all, I also liked the fact they are sold in a convenient resealable pack, so in theory you can have a couple and put the rest of the pack away. I must say that you might want to have more than a couple as they are so delicious!

Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn
Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn

Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn (RRP £1.48) are tasty and light popcorn made with top quality ingredients. We joined #TopcornTribe last year and receive deliveries of Metcalfe’s skinny gift box, with no strings attached. Topcorn is too good not to share, I thought I would include in this month’s feature as we have enjoyed lots and lots of delicious topcorn in June.

We love the selection of sweet and savoury flavours, my favourite flavours are lightly spiced Sweet Cinnamon and delicious Chocolate Crackle, while hubby prefers Sweet ‘n’ Salt and Heat ‘n’ Sweet. So far, we have loved each and every flavour of Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn, they are ideal as light snacks, and we can’t wait for our next Metcalfe’s skinny gift box to arrive.

Crispello Vanilla Velvet Sharing Bag
Crispello Vanilla Velvet Sharing Bag

Crispello Vanilla Velvet Sharing Bag (RRP £2.03) has 12 pieces of smooth vanilla velvet ideal to be shared with friends and family. Each delicate crispy shell is filled with melt in the mouth creamy vanilla mousse and covered in Cadbury milk chocolate.

I really like the light textured bite size pieces, the vanilla filling makes it soft on the inside, while the milk chocolate coated wafers makes it crispy on the outside. Crispello Vanilla Velvelt is individually wrapped, so convenient to be kept in your handbag and lunchboxes.

Colman’s 200 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Jars
Colman’s 200 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Jars

Colman’s 200 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Jars (RRP 99p) are vintage jars inspired by a collection of historic advertising posters used by Colman’s throughout the past two centuries and to highlight the proud history and rich heritage of the brand.

We are already fans of Colman’s original English mustard, we were delighted with the cute limited edition vintage jars. The unique designs and slogans draw on Colman’s links to the butchery trade (slogan ‘meat needs mustard’ and dog by the butcher’s picture) and mustard’s perceived medicinal qualities (sick polar bear design), highlighting the heritage and personality of the brand. Happy 200th birthday Colman’s!

Walkers Shortbread Mini Scottie Dogs
Walkers Shortbread Mini Scottie Dogs

Walkers Shortbread Mini Scottie Dogs (RRP £1.50) is a bag of cute Scottie Dog shaped mini shortbread. The Scottie puppies are made with the same tasty recipe as the large Scottie Dogs, but in miniature size. The pure butter shortbreads are made with only the finest ingredients, containing simply flour, pure butter cream, sugar and salt, with no artificial colouring, flavouring or additives.

I already love the buttery flavour of shortbread, now I like it even more as the mini Scottie Dogs are so cute. They are nearly too cute to be eaten, but someone had to do it – it would be a shame to see those sweet puppies going to waste.

Birds Eye Inspirations
Birds Eye Inspirations

Birds Eye Inspirations is a brand new premium range of delicious fish and chicken dishes, combining the finest and freshest ingredients to create exciting flavour combinations. We’ve previously tried  Birds Eye Bake to Perfection and Rice Fusions, Birds Eye Veg Fusions, and Birds Eye Melt in the Middle Fishcakes. They are ideal as mid-week family meals, when you don’t have much time to cook.

Our latest Birds Eye product is Birds Eye Inspirations, a delicious fusion of succulent fish with lemon and pepper. The Allaska Pollock tails had a tasty light coating infused with a hint of lemon and cracked black pepper, the fish fillet was succulent and the coating was delicious. It was served with Birds Eye Field Fresh Petit Pois.
