Family Celebrations at Ping Pong Dim Sum + Win a Complimentary Meal for 2

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you might have noticed it was my birthday last week and we celebrated at Ping Pong Westbourne Grove, by Portobello Market in London.

I love my birthday and I love dim sum, so I was really looking forward to our intimate family celebration at Ping Pong.

When we arrived at the Westbourne Grove, we were greeted by the friendly staff, we were showed to our table and asked whether it was our first visit.

We have been to Ping Pong several times, and we were gutted when our favourite location in Hampstead closed, it was ideal for lazy Sundays with dim sum and cocktails.

My birthday celebration started with Limited Edition Caipirinhas (RRP £5.95), especially designed for the World Cup, available in three flavours until 14th July: Strawberry and Hibiscus, Plum and Sake, and Passion fruit and Vanilla.

I had Passion Fruit and Vanilla caipirinha, it was very tasty and refreshing. My brother and hubby also mentioned that their caipirinhas were just as delicious!

We enjoyed our cocktails with basil and chilli cashew nuts, seaweed crackers and salted broad beans. We also had garlic and black pepper prawn crackers with spicy mango sauce. The starters were very tasty, my favorite was basil and chilli cashew nuts, yum!

In case you are new to Ping Pong, you will find a menu on your table with a large selection of dishes, each one with little steamed parcels of deliciousness. You are recommended to order a fried or griddled item, a baked item, a rice dish, and a couple of baskets of steamed dumplings per person.

From the fried and griddled selection, we shared potato and edamame cake served with chilli bean sauce, duck spring roll with hoisin sauce, seasonal special squid, prawn and coriander cake, and crispy prawn ball with fish sauce.

My favourite was squid, prawn and coriander cake, I love the combination of flavours, while my brother really enjoyed potato and edamame cake, he even asked for more!

Steamed dumplings are delicate handmade dumplings with a variety of fillings, all steamed, available in different shapes and colours. We enjoyed coriander and prawn dumpling, spicy chicken dumpling, seafood dumpling and chicken and cashew nut dumplings.

The dumplings were incredibly light, with a very tasty filling. Hubby really liked spicy chicken, while my favourite was chicken and cashew nut.

Baked dim sum are rich, buttery, oven-cooked pastry rolls with meat or vegetarian options. We had roast pork puff, crispy on the outside with a delicious pork filling. We also enjoyed king prawn and scallop sticky rice, rice parcel wrapped in a leaf, steamed to perfection.

Another favourite was griddled spinach and mushroom dumpling, served with spicy mango sauce. The tasty filling was complemented by the delicious sauce.

Hubby’s favourite was char sui bun, white Chinese buns, heavenly steamed fluffy buns with a barbecued pork filling. It is like eating melt-in-the-mouth clouds with a rich meat filling – so tasty!

Our meal was enjoyed with mushroom, vegetable and black bean sauce rice pot, and honey-chilli chicken rice pot. The rice pots were delicious!

We finished off our meal with mouth-watering desserts, I tried coconut machi, while little man had a selection of ice cream, and hubby had chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream. The liquid centre of his chocolate dessert was just amazing!
