Back to School with Folr: Watch Over Loved Ones with Location-Tracking App
Now that we are back to school and reality, it is harder to keep track of loved ones and make sure they are safe. I was recently introduced to Folr, a location-tracking app, free to download from the App Store and Play Store, that provides real-time information on family members and friends.
Folr can be used by anyone with a smartphone, as you need a mobile number to activate the app, then you can easily start following other users.
On the ‘Following’ screen, you will be able to see where your loved ones are, and I found the address to be very accurate.
You can also click on the person’s name and have their location on a map, which can be zoomed up to the street’s name. You can follow family members, friends and create a group.
In the ‘Followed by’, you can see those that follow you and easily turn the function on and off, giving users full control over when they are tracked. I really like the fact you can select when to be followed, and adjust days of the week and timings accordingly.
We have been using Folr and I enjoyed checking on hubby’s whereabouts. Folr is convenient and easy to use, perfect to keep track of loved ones, to find out where children are after school and when family members are out and about. It is a unique location-sharing app, proving options in history and privacy.
In ‘My Account’ tab, you can find a complete timeline of the device location according to date and time. Anyone can download the app and start benefiting from the family locator, such as small children being looked after by nannies, keeping track of teenagers that enjoy their freedom, looking over elderly parents to make sure they are safe, and keeping an eye on partners on business trips.
We are really enjoying using Folr and we are very impressed how accurate the location is shown on the tracking app, no wonder it has been featured as one of 20 best Android apps in the Guardian. If we could suggest any changes to the app, it would be to have more than one device activated using the same mobile number, this way you could use the app on tablets and iPods to track small children without a mobile.
