Pain au Chocolat Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe #NewThings
Bread and butter pudding is one of our favourite winter desserts, it is easy and quick to make, perfect for those days when you fancy something sweet but don’t have any treats in the fridge.
We have recently made Bread and Butter Pudding in our De’Longhi Multifry and it was simply delicious. We thought it would be a good idea to tweak the recipe and swap the brown bread with pain au chocolat for a chocolatey twist – yummy!
As you know, we are New Things Ambassadors, and we have been challenged to try and experience new things together as a family, no matter how big or small. The best memories are created when you try something new, such as visiting somewhere new, playing a new game, trying a new meal.
This month, we visited Legoland for the first time and over the weekend we played a homemade maths memory game. This week we were challenged to try a new food, we’ve already made jam, our Easy Raspberry and Vanilla Jam was a success, so we also decided to try a new savoury dish, a delicious Fusilli with Smoked Trout.
Since it is still new food week, we made individual bread and butter pudding, with Pasquier Pain au chocolate and Lindt Hello Just For You Heart Chocolates from this month’s Degustabox (full review to follow). We also used freshly ground vanilla from Dr Oetker Madagascan Grinder from a previous box.
We really liked making and eating our bread and butter pudding made with pain au chocolat, lovely variation to the traditional pudding.
If you are looking for new things, CSMA has some lovely suggestions on cheap things to do with kids. It doesn’t need to be complicated and expensive – kids enjoy having fun with virtually anything!
- 4 pain au chocolate (I used Brioche Pasquier Pain au chocolat)
- 2 eggs
- 150ml milk
- Vanilla, to taste (I used Dr Oetker Madagascan Vanilla Grinder)
- Butter, to grease ramekins
- Grated milk chocolate, to taste (I used Lindt Hello Just for You Heart Chocolate)
- Pre-heat oven to 180C.
- Whisk the eggs, milk and vanilla, until the mixture is smooth.
- Grease four ramekins with butter.
- Cut the pain au chocolat widthways (around 4 layers per pain au chocolat), and put them in the ramekin.
- Pour the mixture over the pain au chocolat in ramekins. Scatter the chocolate over the top.
- Place the ramekins in the oven for 15 minutes, or until it is cooked and golden.
- Serve warm.
I would love to hear about your #NewThings experiences!
