Meet Little Man’s New Pet: Teksta Interactive Robotic Puppy

Little man has been asking for a puppy for a while, but unfortunately we can’t have one as we don’t have enough space at the moment.

We were planning on moving to a bigger place, but little man has been recently accepted into our first choice school – over a year late, so we had to put our plans for a new house on hold.

Meet Little Man’s New Pet: Teksta Interactive Robotic Puppy

Luckily Teksta is an interactive 4th generation robotic puppy very similar to a real puppy – minus the cleaning up and vet bills. I remember playing with a robotic puppy when I was little, but Teksta doesn’t compare to it.

He is so much smarter and more clever, Teksta responds to your voice, physical gestures, lights and sounds. Teksta has expressive eyes and you can understand his emotions and find out which mood he is in by looking at his eye, he might be happy (the eyes shown in the picture above), excited, sleepy, angry or surprised.

The box contains Teksta, a bone, a ball, and instructions to train him. It requires 4x AA batteries (not included), it comes with a bone to feed him (batteries included). Little man loves interacting with his cute Dalmatian.

In order to make him walk, you can clap or speak. He can be stopped by placing your hands in front of his eyes. He can walk on most carpets, but walks best on smooth surfaces.

Petting Teksta

Teksta is just a puppy, he might bark or walk to any sound. You can pat his head to let him know that you are there and follow your command. He sniffs when you touch his nose.

There are over one hundred physical and interactive play features to keep little ones entertained. We were planning on making a little video to show Teksta moves, but we found a very useful video on Teksta Training Channel, which is great for hints and tips on how to train and play with Teksta.

Feeding Teksta
Feeding Teksta

Little man really enjoys interacting with Teksta and looking after him. Feeding Teskta is simple, you simply need to place the bone under his chin and he will begin to chew the bone. You will notice the bone lights up during feeding.

You can also chat to Teksta, by entering in conversation mode when pressing and releasing a head button. Talk to him and wait a few seconds for a response. Sing and dance programming is one of little man’s favourite. You can clap and call him after pressing the button on his head, and he will start to dance. You can pet to stop or put your hand in front of his face.

Teksta Playing with Ball
Teksta Playing with Ball

Teksta enjoys playing with the ball, which sticks in place under his chin. Sometimes he will chew the ball. Little man has been training Teksta to sit and jump. You can entering hand gesture mode by using your hand and holding in front of his eyes for 3 seconds and listening for 3 beeps. You will then see a particular eye pattern that shows he is ready. You can also activate hand gesture mode by pressing and holding 2 head buttons for 3 seconds.

To make him sit, wave your hand down in front of his face. To make him flip when he is sitting, just wave your hand up to make him jump. As Teksta is just a puppy, he needs lots of training to flip successfully. We can get him to sit, but he is not ready to flip yet.

Apart from hand gesture training, you can also download a free app for advance programming. You can teach him new tricks, control his eye pattern, movements and sounds. You then need to press his nose to return to normal play.

Little man really enjoys looking after his new puppy, it is a great toy for children that can’t have a pet, and also before introducing a pet to young children. It will teach them how to look after pets and interact with them.

Teksta is recommended for children aged 5 and above, I am sure it will be very popular this Christmas as it is so cute and clever. The puppy can be found in blue, pink and Dalmatian (the one in the picture). There is also a cute pink kitty and red T-Rex. Teksta can be found at Character Online and major retailer nationwide at RRP £59.99. For more information, please check http://www.character-online.com/products/Teksta/
