My Top Tips to Get Organised for Christmas
As it’s November and we have just celebrated Halloween, we are allowed to mention the C word. We love Christmas and are so looking forward to it, can’t believe it is only 7 weeks away. Little man has already started a countdown and I am very tempted to get an advent calendar for November and another one for December.
Apart from sweet chocolate doors to open each day, there is so much I want to do before Christmas. There are presents and new outfits to be bought, treat ourselves to a special family day out and organise Christmas dinner and trimmings.
I am known for being extremely organised and couldn’t do it all without a calendar to keep track of important dates and events. I just ordered a lovely personalised photo calendar by Photobox, and I simply love turning a new page and looking at a new picture of us. I must confess my memory is not the best, and find easier to remember something after writing it down.
My top tips to get organised for Christmas are:
- Start writing a Christmas list for family members and close friends as soon as possible. If you spot something nice in the shops, buy it early and put it away for Christmas.
- Last minute shopping for outfits has never worked for me. I usually end up buying an unflattering dress that stays in my wardrobe with tags forever. I learnt to start browsing for outfits in November and try to get it sorted by beginning of December, before the Christmas rush.
- Put down key dates and events in a wall calendar, and place somewhere in the house where the whole family can see what is going on. It will avoid double booking during the festive season, and it will certainly make you feel more under control. We nearly missed little man’s Christmas play last year, I would be gutted if we didn’t make it.
Have fun! Whatever you do, make sure it is done with a big smile and enjoy yourself. I will be certainly making our Christmas themed gin cocktails this year!
