American Pancakes Recipe
We love pancakes, and eat it nearly every weekend. We are making the most of the school holidays by sitting down for relaxed breakfast every morning. One of our favourite breakfast recipes is pancake. I was brought up eating pancakes, and so is our little boy. He loves trying different flavour combinations and toppings.
We love experimenting with pancakes, from making a colourful Pancake Rainbow to Easy Pancake Recipes and even Vegetarian English Breakfast on Pancakes. I usually follow my very own Perfect Pancake Recipe, but I have recently tried a new American Pancakes recipe from Flora and we all loved it. They are thick and fluffy, the pancakes bubble and rise a little in the pan.
We enjoyed our pancakes with a drizzle of golden syrup, others with banana and peanut butter, others with lemon and sugar. The whole family enjoyed the fluffy American pancakes and we will be making them again during the school holidays.
This is the recipe that we used:
- 125g self-raising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 medium egg, I used the happy egg co.
- 250 ml milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp Flora Cuisine
- In a medium mixing bowl sift all of the dry ingredients together. Make a well in the middle and set aside.
- In a separate bowl or jug, combine the wet ingredients and whisk together until well combined.
- Add the wet mix to the dry mix and stir until just moistened. The mixture will be lumpy but that’s fine.
- Heat a frying pan and add a little Flora Cuisine. Once it's hot, drop ladles of the mix onto the pan. Once they are bubbly on the top and the edges appear dry (after about 2 minutes), it’s time to turn them.
- Cook for a further 2 mins. Serve immediately with a dollop of Flora Buttery and maple or golden syrup.
