Festive Family Dining at Tate Modern Cafe
As a family, we love spending time together and there is nothing better than sharing a delicious family meal. We have recently been to Tate Modern Café to try their Christmas menu and the whole family loved the experience.
Tate Modern Café is located at the South Bank with beautiful views of the River Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral. It is family-friendly and great attraction this school holidays.
You can visit the gallery, then stroll around the Christmas market outside the gallery for some last-minute Christmas shopping, you will certainly find what you are looking for in one of the 70 wooden chalet stalls with beautiful handmade toys, unique jewellery and decorations.
It is a lovely place to visit during the school holidays, and you will be treated to a mouth-watering festive menu. We dined from the Christmas menu set menu, in which you can enjoy 2 courses for £20 and 3 courses for £25 per person.
Dining options include seasonal starters such as Potted shrimps with dill, pickled cucumber and toasted sourdough, hearty, warming mains like Roast turkey stuffed with chicken and all the trimmings, and indulgent, classic desserts like Christmas Eaton Mess. Followed by a cup of Tate’s very own seasonal coffee that is sourced, blended and roasted in-house.
We had pumpkin, squash, ricotta and blue cheese tart for starters, it was served with rocket salad and pumpkin dressing. It is usually served at room temperature, but we asked for it to be served warm, and it arrived just as we asked for. It was very tasty and full of flavour!
For main course, we had confit duck leg served with dauphinoise potatoes, braised red cabbage and jus. It was duck was beautifully cooked and falling off the bone. It was complemented by the other dishes on the plate. We loved it.
We had a heavenly Baileys cheesecake with butterscotch sauce to finish off our meal, and it was a beautiful ending to such a tasty dinner.
Little man dined from the Kids Menu and I was pleased to find out that kids can eat for free at lunchtimes in the café when an accompanying adult buys a main course from the menu.
The menu offers kids’ favourite dishes such as macaroni cheese, macaroni Bolognese, Cornish haddock fingers and chips and Chicken goujons with chips. Little man tried Chicken goujons with chips, the portion was generous and it was served with a portion of seasonal vegetables.
For dessert, little man picked Apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and he loved it! Check out in the picture how much he is concentrating to eat it!
We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Tate Modern Café, the staff was professional and friendly, the food was delicious. We were very impressed with our experience and we certainly left feeling festive!
