Would you pass your theory test if you did it today?
If anyone asked me, I would certainly say I would. I got my driving licence when I was 17, and until today, I was convinced I knew everything about driving.
However the reality is slightly different, I have just had a go at the We Buy Any Car interactive driving theory quiz and found out that I would have failed the test if I did it again today.
According to the quiz, I have the basic knowledge, however I would benefit from a refreshed foundation of knowledge.
My driver type is Sensible Stella, I am not very proud of it, and I was shocked to find out that I am not up to speed with the road rules. However I thought it would be good to share, in case any of you or your kids are currently learning to drive.
Did you know that drivers aged 17 to 19 make up only 1.5% of UK licence holders, but are involved in 12% of all fatal and serious crashes? In order to raise awareness of road safety, the interactive quiz was created, asking if drivers could pass their theory test today. With 14,000 entries so far, results are showing that 49% of those aged 17 to 21 would fail – almost 20% more than all other age groups.
If you have children coming up to 17, they will inevitably be thinking about learning to drive soon. While the practical test is generally the part everyone focusses on, the theory is equally important: a practical test can’t even be booked until the theory has been passed.
While they might not be too excited about having yet another exam to revise for, let your teen have a go at the We Buy Any Car driving theory quiz below. With a whopping 50% of all driving theories failed, it’s important to get as much practice in as possible pre-test. It’s also a great way to demonstrate that the test isn’t as easy as it seems!
The theory quiz is great to check your knowledge and make sure you are road legal. It’s surprising how tricky some of the questions are!
