Discovering Teapigs Matcha Green Tea & Green Smoothie with Matcha Recipe
As you are aware, I have been trying to make small changes to our lifestyle in order to eat more healthily and get more active. I have been very pleased with my progress over the past few weeks, and I feel much better, healthier and happier, check out our Getting Fit feature to see how we are getting on.
A few weeks ago, I visited the first matcha bar in London, a Teapigs pop-up in Shoreditch’s Boxpark, and learnt more about matcha green tea. While I was there, I had the chance to try some delicious matcha based drinks and snacks, including matcha latte and matcha cupcake.
It was my first time trying matcha and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that matcha is 100% organic green tea leaves, containing 15 times the nutritional value of regular green tea, 6 times the antioxidants of goji berries and 70 times the antioxidants of orange juice.
Teapigs cultivate green tea leaves under shade, which increases the chlorophyll content. The leaves are then ground to a fine powder and vacuum packed in to the tin.
Not only matcha is packed with antioxidants, it boosts your metabolism due to its termogenic properties. Matcha’s natural tea caffeine gives you a slow release of energy, lasting up to 6 hours.
Natasha Corrett from Honestly Healthy made a green smoothie, and explained that it should have 80% of vegetables, you should use hearty vegetables such as kale, softer vegetables such as spinach, fruit of choice, superfoods and water.
When I got home, I thought I should experiment and try to make my first green smoothie, and this is what I put on it.

I must say I really liked the green smoothie, it tasted delicious and I would be making more green smoothies soon. Little man also tried and said it was yummy!
