COMPETITION: Win a Signed Copy of The Snarling of Wolves by Vivian French

I love reading, and so does little man. He looks forward to his bedtime story every night, and we spend quality time together by reading and talking about his chosen book.

Not only reading is an essential skill, it is very enjoyable too. In order to inspire a love of reading, writing and illustration, Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour (organised by Scottish Book Trust) takes the very best UK and international authors directly into schools across Scotland and the UK.

The Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour 2015 continued in great style with the fantastic author, illustrator, playwright and poet Vivian French visiting over ten schools in Birmingham.

Vivian is an acclaimed children’s author, having published over a couple of hundred of books, including picture books, non-fiction titles and story books series. During Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour, the school events were based on the popular Tales from the Five Kingdoms series, and pupils were encouraged to get creative and tell their own tales of a magical world.

Do you enjoy telling stories? Vivian has shared her top tips for telling a brilliant story and keeping your audience engaged in a fun video:

The Snarling of Wolves is the six book in the comic fantasy series Tales from the Five Kingdoms. The fiction book is suitable for children aged 9 and above.

“The Web of Power which keeps the Five Kingdoms safe from evil is under threat. Foyce is determined to destroy it so she can take a terrible revenge on her step-sister, Gracie Gillypot. Meanwhile the five Royal Families are in turmoil. Queen Bluebell is fed up with her tedious grandson, Vincent; Prince Tertius is suffering from the endless nagging of his new wife, Princess Fedora – and on top of everything else there’s a big tournament coming up. Things come to a head when Gubble the troll crashes into King Frank’s study, and he and Gracie are thrown into a dungeon. A band of fearsome werewolves are gathering in the forests, and Foyce is among them. Will Gracie, Marcus and a handful of bats be able to save the kingdoms from total disaster?”
