How do you see yourself?

If you had to choose between calling yourself average or beautiful, which one would you pick?

An alarming research by Dove found that a surprising 96% of women wouldn’t pick the word beautiful to describe themselves.

I am known for being a positive person and you will usually find me smiling. Instead of frowning, I prefer to look at the bright side and make the most of now. Being happy and looking at the positive side are choices, the same way that considering yourself beautiful is a conscious choice we should make every day.

Little man as a baby

I know I am not perfect, but I have learnt to appreciate my qualities and not worry too much about my imperfections. I honestly think I look as beautiful while sleeping on the sofa with messy hair cuddling my baby, as I looked in our professional photoshoot.

Although both photos are very different, I just love them. If I had to pick one, it would be the one as a new mum relaxing with my newborn.

Dove ChooseBeautiful

In the Dove Choose Beautiful film, women around the world were given two doors to walk through, a Beautiful and an Average door. The film was shot in London, Delhi, San Francisco, Shanghai and Sao Paulo and I was surprised to see so many women walking through the Average door.

Some people mentioned that, if there were given another choice, they would walk through the Beautiful door instead. I truly believe we are all beautiful in our own unique way. We should feel confident about the way we look, and make a positive choice about how we see ourselves.

Beautiful is a choice, and we can make a choice every single day and choose Beautiful, recognising our own beauty. Check out the lovely Dove Choose Beautiful video below:

I always see myself as average, but my husband always calls me beautiful. I believe its all to do with confidence. If you are a confident person (which I am not) you will see yourself in a more positive way therefore think of yourself as beautiful.

I think we are generally brought up to be very modest. I can’t imagine myself walking through the beautiful door, yet what you say is true – we are all beautiful in our own way.

I would see my self as being average after being so busy working, having a child who’s 2 and running a house certainly takes it tole!

I love Dove’s latest campaign. I found the video quite emotional to be honest, even more so because I want my little girl to grow up never doubting she’s beautiful. Love the photo of you with your baby by the way.

I’m very lucky with my hubby, I do think he’ has some kind of additional gene, the deluded gene! He looks at me quite often and just says god your gorgeous and other times tells me I’m a beautiful person. I would say I’m a good kind person, as to appearance, I have nice skin and hair and although some people look at me like I’m odd, I smile all the time and it’s not wind! I struggle to say I’m beautiful but I guess I’m just happy to be a good person.
