Family Meal at Bella Italia
As a family, we really enjoy spending time together and eating delicious food. Naturally, going out for a family meal is one of our favourite activities, we love catching up while trying new dishes.
We have recently visited Bella Italia in Leicester Square and really enjoyed our experience. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of London, a few minutes away from Oxford Street and Covent Garden.
Whether you are treating the kids to a trip to Hamleys, have just been shopping in Oxford Street or been to one of the cinemas in the square, we would recommend to stop at Bella Italia to relax and have a bite to eat.
The Italian restaurant offers a wide range of dishes on the menu, from pasta and pizza to fish and steak. Hubby chose Polpette to start, baked spiced pork and beef meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, topped with melted mozzarella. He mentioned that the meatballs were succulent and enjoyed eating the dish with ciabatta.
I couldn’t resist the delicious Pizza Spirale as starter, which is twisted pizza dough filled with melted mozzarella, oven baked and served with a fiery arrabbiata dip.
Whenever we visit an Italian restaurant, hubby looks forward to trying their Calzone. He had Calzone Diavola, with n’duja sausage and pepperoni, chicken breast, cherry bell peppers, green chillies, red onion and mozzarella on a spicy arrabbiata base. He loved his Calzone, it was full of flavour!
I tried Filetto di Spigola, butterflied seabass fillet with a warm salad of roasted new potatoes and red onions, green beans, black olives, plum tomatoes and fresh herb. The dish is served with a delicious garlic salsa verde, which beautifully complements the fish.
I must confess I was very impressed with the kids menu, offering three courses, unlimited drink refills and nibbles for £5.45 for younger children (2 to 6 years old), and £7.95 for older children. Little man ordered the Piccolo Kids Menu (for younger children) and it was perfect for him!
He had cheesy garlic bread for starter, flatbread with oozy garlic butter and mozzarella cheese. He loved it! For main course, he tried Pizza Dog, a delicious hot dog with mozzarella and tomato sauce, baked in pizza dough. It is served with chunky chips and tomato ketchup. He really enjoyed his main course, which was washed down with fizzy lemon cordial.
After his meal, he had strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce, while mummy and daddy had to try one of the ice cream sundaes: Godfather, nutty fudge brownies with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, fresh cream, decorated with dark chocolate tagliatelle and a wafer curl.
We had a wonderful time at Bella Italia, the food was simply delicious and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. We are looking forward to our next trip to Bella Italia for another great family meal!
