Supermarket Sweep at Aldi: Our 25 Family Favourite Products
I must confess I really enjoy grocery shopping, walking down the aisles looking for delicious food for our family, so when Aldi invited us to take part in their Supermarket Sweet, I couldn’t wait to go to our local store.
I was challenged to spend 25 minutes shopping for our favourite 25 products. Ever since I have been introduced to Aldi, I have been back several times and love the selection of products available.
So what did I managed to get in our Supermarket Sweep?
- Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We truly believe that it is essential to start the day with a nutritious breakfast. You will find a selection of cereals, bread, spreads, tea and coffee as soon as you enter the store.
Our first 4 products: herbal tea, English tea, brioche and chocolate spread.
We stocked up on a selection of herbal teas, calming camomile, refreshing berry fruits and uplifting lemon and ginger tea. If you prefer a traditional English breakfast tea, there is also Gold, a rich, full-flavoured tea blend.
The tea is complemented by French milk brioche rolls, served with white swirl chocolate spread. Combination made in heaven, it’s little man’s favourite breakfast.
Another 4 breakfast essentials: granola, milk, soya milk and hot chocolate drink.
If you prefer cereal for breakfast, you will love crunchy oat granola, available in tropical fruits flavour and raisin & almond flavour. The honey toasted oats are delicious with milk or soya milk, they go very well with a cup of hot chocolate.
- Snacks
Our 4 favourite biscuits: oaties, cookies & cream, custard cream and chocolate digestives.
In the store, biscuits are found right after the cereals, so I stocked up on our family favourites. We usually have a selection of biscuits at home, I enjoy them with a cup of tea, while little man has two biscuits and a glass of milk before bed. Yummy!
- Fruit and Vegetables
Our 10 favourite fruit and vegetables: crispy mixed leaf salad, cherry tomatoes, red onions, green beans, sweetcorn, bananas, red apples, satsumas, cooked beetroot and blueberries.
Walking down the aisles, you will find the fruit and vegetables section. Right at the start, you will be greeted with the Super 6, which are 6 fruit and vegetables at super prices (from only 49p!). This week, you will find red onions, sweetbite peppers, chestnut mushrooms, rhubarb, Jersey Royal potatoes and green beans.
We love fruit and vegetables and always have a selection of fresh, frozen and tinned fruit and veg at home. We stocked up on salads, vegetables, fruits and berries for the week ahead.
- BBQ essentials
Our 3 favourite meat: pork loin, beef steaks and chicken drumsticks and thighs.
The meat fridge is found at the end of the fruit and vegetables aisle.
The BBQ season is here, so I had to stock up on BBQ essentials. Usually hubby gets the meat from our local butchers, but this time I got it from Aldi. At first, hubby wasn’t sure whether the quality would be the same, however he was pleasantly surprised once the meat was ready.
We had some friends and family over for the BBQ and they all commented how succulent and tender the meat was.
In our BBQ, we enjoyed a selection of meats:
- pork loin medallions filled with a homemade cheese and onion mix, which kept the meat tender and juicy.
- chicken drumsticks and thighs marinated in garlic and onion. They were beautifully cooked in the charcoal.
- rump steak and beef medallion steaks seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic. The 21 day matured steaks are full of flavour and cook in no time.
The BBQ was enjoyed with a mixed leaves salad with tomatoes, and roasted mushroom and onion skewers. Simply delicious!
I loved taking part in the Supermarket Sweep, and if you also want to get involved, Aldi is currently doing a virtual Supermarket Tweet on Twitter. You can find out further details and get involved here: https://twitter.com/AldiUK
