Keep Your Little Ones Safe with the Free First Aid App by British Red Cross #RappedUp
I love being a mum, motherhood is certainly full of surprises – mostly great ones, however others are not so good! Unfortunately accidents happen when you are a parent, and sadly many of us are not sure what to do to save our child’s life when we need to the most.
Would you know what to do if your child took some household cleaning products when you were not looking?
When little man was born, I must confess I had no idea what to do in case of emergency. In the UK, there are around 6.5 million parents with children under 5 years old, and most of them are interested in learning first aid towards the end of pregnancy or when they have a baby.
We all know how busy life gets once you have a child, and although parents still feel responsible for their children’s safety, they don’t get the chance to learn first aid once their kids get older.
First aid is an essential life skill every parent should learn, no matter how old their children are. Luckily, the British Red Cross has launched a new free app to help parents deal with everyday accidents and emergencies.
I’ve downloaded the Baby and Child First Aid App and found it very informative and useful. It is full of great content to educate and inform parents. There are five tabs in the app, where you can learn about common accidents, prepare for daily scenarios, deal with emergency situations, test your knowledge and log your child’s record in the toolkit.
You can learn first aid easily with the British Red Cross. In the learn section, you will find information regarding allergic reaction, asthma attack, heavy bleeding, broken bone, burns, choking and other issues. Little man has nosebleed often, so I used the app to learn more about first aid on nosebleed. There is also a handy video, step-by-step instructions and Q&As.
In the emergency section, you will find emergency first aid for a range of situations, from fever to poisoning and head injury. Little man is known for being clumsy and tends to fall all the time. We watched the head injury video, so we will know exactly what to do next time.
The app is great for dealing with emergencies and also for preparing for everyday scenarios, such as holidays. The schools are out for the summer, and if you are going away, you will be pleased to hear there is a handy holiday checklist in the prepare section, together with a to-do list before going abroad and related first aid issues.
I have taken a Paediatric First Aid course, and if you haven’t taken a first aid course yet, I would definitely recommend It if you have a child between 0 and 12 years old. Get your free Baby and Child first aid app now!
