Preparing for the First Day at School
I can’t believe the school holidays are nearly over and the school year is about to start. We had a fantastic holiday in Brazil and will cherish every moment spent with our family.
Little man is looking forward to going back to school, seeing his friends and meeting his new teacher. He had a great start last year and I’m sure he will do just as well this year. I remember as if it was today when he started Year 1. It was an emotional day for both of us, I couldn’t believe that our little boy was starting big school, he didn’t know what to expect.
In order to prepare him for his big day, we went to buy his uniform together, had his foot measured for his school shoes and talked about what he would be doing at school. He also had a haircut so he could look smart on his first day.
Although he was looking forward to his first day and was feeling ready to learn lots at school, he was still feeling scared.
Every child has the right to education, but sadly not all mums go through the first day at school experience with their little ones. There are around 58 children around the world that are out of school and 130 million that leave primary school without basic reading, writing, maths and social skills. It is a very sad reality, I couldn’t imagine my child not being able to go to school and learn.
This year, Persil partnered with Unicef to launch an initiative to change lives of children by helping them develop life skills and prepare for a brighter feature. The Persil Learning for Tomorrow campaign contributes to Unicef’s education programmes, which provides teacher training, literacy activities and awareness campaigns in Brazil, Vietnam and India.
In order to celebrate Persil’s partnership with Unicef, celebrating the giving of 10 million children worldwide access to quality education, Persil are running a Photo-A-Week challenge. Each week for 4 weeks, Persil will announce a school theme on their Instagram page (@PersilUK) and ask you to upload your photo to Instagram, mentioning @PersilUK and using that week’s competition hashtag. Check out this exciting competition and you could win exciting prizes.
