Family Meal at Giggling Squid

We absolutely love going out for a family meal, especially when we visit a restaurant that caters for the whole family.

Our visit to Giggling Squid in Billericay was one of the highlights of our half-term. The food was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our first visit to the restaurant, but we loved it so much that I am sure we will be paying another visit again soon!

Little man was particularly impressed with their children’s menu: Little tapas for little people. Unlike other restaurants, it doesn’t include any chips, pizzas or lasagne, so young diners are invited to try something different.

Little ones can mix and match small plates from a delicious selection of dishes, including pork dumplings, spring rolls, chicken fried rice, grilled pork on skewers and dipping sauce, chicken satay and peanut sauce, little bowl of mild massaman curry in chicken and lamb, tender strips of grilled sirloin steak, pad Thai noodles with chicken, prawn or vegetables.

Little man was spoiled by choice and didn’t know what to order, but in the end he went for spring rolls and chicken fried rice. He really enjoyed both!

We also enjoyed trying the tapas menu, available at lunchtime. We started our meal with a portion of prawn crackers.

We then tried the chicken satay, which was beautifully seasoned. The salt and pepper squid were also delicious. We also enjoyed the spring rolls and Thai pork dumplings. Our starters were just so tasty!

For our main course, I didn’t know what to order as they were so many dishes I wanted to try. The giggling pad Thai sounded fantastic, but I also wanted to try the cashew nut stir fry and Thai green curry. The dishes come with plain rice and you have the option of having it with chicken, prawn or vegetables.

In the end, I went for Thai green curry with prawns, which was so beautifully cooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious Thai flavours blended with silky smooth coconut milk.

Hubby tried the grilled beef and sticky rice, which was also deliciously tasty!

To finish off our meal, we tried their refreshing ice cream, made by a tiny shop in Brighton at Giggling Squid’s request. Hubby tried the black sesame flavour, while little man went for banana and honey ice cream.

I had to try the caramelised mango cake, served with vanilla ice cream. We all thoroughly enjoyed our desserts as much as we loved our meal.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Giggling Squid. I had a look at their evening menu and there are even more dishes to choose from. We thoroughly recommend Giggling Squid this Father’s Day. Giggling Squid is running a fantastic Father’s Day offer, in which dads just need to mention ‘Giggling Dad’ at any Giggling Squid on Father’s Day to be treated to a large complimentary cool Singha to kickstart the celebrations.
